  1. I have a rod with the Amtak Titan guides with the Nanolite rings. I will say, they are very light weight. The rod I used them on is a bait caster, spiral wrapped ( bumper style). I am very pleased with them but I noticed with the size 6 fly guides I used they can bend alittle. The rod got beat up a bit putting it into the car. I have 11 guides and the tip top and they weight about the same as a size 20 - 25 standard guide.
  2. Here is another article on marbling. http://www.rodbuilding.org/library/marble.html

That is a sweet set-up. For myself I use the dining room table. This is where my Amtack wrapper is set-up at. I live in a townhome with limited space. I am thankful my wife puts up with the rod building stuff most of the time. I must go outside to shape my grips. That's not a problem. Now the Optivisor. that is a must to have. It has saved me from going nuts. Before I could only work for about 15 minutes then I'd have to take a break. Now, I can work for an hour or so on a wrap before taking a break. Now I have visted Tom Kirkman at his shop in N.C. and that is an awesome set-up.
  4. I took a seat off afew months ago soaking the seat in boiling water. It took about 5 - 10 minutes and was I amaized. It slid right off with little effort. I am with ReelMech on the original questions also. Lamar's exotic burl is really nice stuff. I like the Burnt burl for trim and checkers.
  5. That's a nice marble job. I have sold rods and some of the customers will not even fish with them. They tell me " it's to nice to fish with".
  6. ReelMech, Wrapping guides bumper style is the way to go. I did one for myself using the Amtack. Titan guides. I cannot believe how light the guides are. Are you going to the National Rod Building Show in Charlotte? I went last year and it was great and I know this year is going to be better by a long shot. Unfortunatly, I can't go this year. Your correct, most tournament anglers don't care much about how a rod looks. They just want it to do the specific job they need the rod for.
  7. ReelMech There's nothing wrong with her doing the flames. They look great! Marbling is not for everybody. Do you do any wraps?
  8. ReelMech, Sure is posted there with many others of creations. How do you like the "Flame" marble?
  9. Nice job on the marble guys. I use Testors for pigments. I built this one last spring for myself.
  10. I fish from a Wilderness System, Pungo 120. This is a "sit inside" kayak. This is pretty fun to catch bass in. ;D Alot of kayak fishermen will fish out of a "sit on top" style kayak. The Tarpon 120 and 140 is very popular for kayak fishing. Most people fishing out of kayaks will "Trick them out" to. Myself, have 2 flush mont rod holders and one Scotty. Also, just bought a fish finder for it and just rigged a battery pack for it. I recommend for anyone wanting to kayak fish to really research the subject. There are also many tournaments on the coast too.
