Flouro For Spinning Reels
Yes, I know what size line I can put on my reels, thats not what I asked. Flouro on spinning and fouro on baitcasting are two different things as far as I'm concerned. The wiriness of it makes it a little harder to handle on spinning, which is why I ask this question.

I guess if you are high enough anything is awe inspiring, even watching people sweep ice.

Flouro For Spinning Reels
Whats the best flourocarbon line to use on spinning reels? These are used for finesse presentations, and I have no desire to use braid with a leader or anything like that. I have used a few different brands of flouro and always end up with more line twist/management problems than normal. I will be spooling up with 4-10 lb test on different reels if that matters.

Do Crawdads Exist Everywhere?
No, they don't exist everywhere. However there are several species of crawdads that can and do survive in many different environments. I think most people think of crawfish as one species that prefers a singular environment, and that is not true.

The Olympics
I lost all interest in the Olympics sometime after the Berlin wall fell. Without the Cold War it just wasn't the same.

Whats Your Favorite Deep Water Technique?
Many of those lakes with real shallow shelves and steep drops in my area have primarily sandy bottoms transitioning to peat/muck at some point. Sometimes those few mucky shallow areas just fish better. Also, don't overlook the channels. Particularly the man made ones tend to have some depth, weeds and are highly fertile. They aren't usually the best summer areas but they do often hold fish. Those steep breaks look good, but they just don't often fish well around here imo, at least without some sort of secondary cover - logs, docks, etc. If you get bored this winter try ice fishing at the base of the drop, if there are perch in the lake odds are you'll find them.

All Black Lures?
FWIW Black is kind of a traditional musky color and a fair number of baits are still sold in solid or almost solid black.

I will admit I never considered bubblegum color subtle or natural

Good Catfish Bait?
I've had good luck with that. It stays on worms well, even in current, doesn't seem to take a whole lot left on the worm to get bit either. The little catfishing I do is done from the pier, and it also is effective at keeping your area from getting crowded.

How Does Bass Taste?
Those are far better than catfish. Low fat, mild flavor. For freshwater fish, nothing beats whitefish. For saltwater, fresh salmon (preferably sockeye - wholly different taste than salmon that's lived its entire life in freshwater) or tuna. But smaller bass and pike are all good if properly prepared.

Moderator??
Hmm, I though the only heated discussions were ABU vs Shimano.. LOL. Honestly, I haven't frequented many internet forums, but it seems like a good bunch of guys here. I have my opinions, which may differ from many others, but that's life.

Night Fishing
The only thing I night fish for is salmon. Best way to beat the crowds, plus they are much more aggressive on average.

Have You Thought About Going Lefty?
Although I have all my spinning reels set up for left hand retrieve, I have used both left and right hand baitcasters and prefer right hand. I can't offer a detailed explanation other than to say its what works for me.

Catching (Snagging) Free Tackle
I had a rod holder break while musky trolling and watched a couple hundred dollars skip the other way across the surface of the lake briefly ( those 'indestructible' plastic adjustable holders just aren't the right tool for that job, neither is braid. live and learn). Set down a cheap jigging pole while ice fishing to drill another hole, when I looked back it was gone, it can happen. No way to retrieve either of those.

Newbie Questions
Well here's been my experience. If the fish are around shallow cover, in addition to the above mentioned baits, spinnerbaits or minnowbaits can be good year round. However, as mentioned, if the prey isn't there they won't be either. Assuming you are fishing a natural lake, the best offshore structure for me has been rocky structure of some kind. Points, submerged islands, etc. Without a map or electronics some of the locations can be hard to find. If there are navigational markers of some kind in the middle of the lake explore around those. I've had better luck with soft plastics for smallies, and would probably go with carolina rigged tubes or craws if I had to find structure the hard way.

How Does Bass Taste?
They are good. However, like pretty much any fish, the bigger they are the more they taste like the bottom of the lake they came out of ime.

Zoom Brush Hog
I usually t-rig them. They work well, can be a decent flipping bait
