  1. Yes they offer 3 out of 4 qualities that attract bass. Including vibration, sound, and can be seen. They excel in shallow dingy water above 60 degrees. They will also work in clear water but downsizing is crucial and a fast speed retrieve is required for the most part so they don't have a good look at the bait. Make sure to bump your buzzbait into things like logs, docks, and rocks to trigger a reaction strike.
  2. VMC sure set hooks will land you more bass. The back treble has one shank that is a wider gap.
  3. Bandit crankbait company has some amazing square bills. Also look into kvd's 1.5 and 2.5. Xcalibur and lucky craft have good ones also
  4. Don't know much but some crawfish are different colors depending on what part of the country its in. But i just go with browns, grays, and reds. Thats it.
  5. Black, white, and watermelon
  6. oh yeah for those big post-spawn bass. lol
  7. Fall equals moving fast and covering water for aggressive fish. So for me i like shad imitating baits since they are gorging on shad. These include the Zara Spook, Strike king spit N king, Buzz baits, swim baits, and jerkbaits like the lucky craft pointer.
  8. Make sure to match the hatch. Meaning match your bait to the size, color, and shape of the bait fish. Good lures for schoolers include poppers, Zara spooks, soft/hard jerkbaits, swimbaits, and a largely unused technique is the Norman front runner which gives you a chance to get a double. Simply tie on the front runner to your main line then attach a leader with your favorite topwater and it mimics a larger fish chasing something smaller. Look into it! If a fish misses your topwater just throw back a zoom super fluke or a senko, this is called a follow up. Often the bass will think it injured it and will eat it up!
  9. Pretty simple, just take a lighter and melt the plastic back together. Overtime you'll save money. (:
  10. Cotton Cordell super hot-spot in 1/2 ounce.
  11. I'd go with a faster burner reel. You can always slow down a fast reel, but not speed up a slow reel. Taking up slack quick to set the hook is important. Also making long casts on point you're usually fishing something down their specific like a clam bed, stumps, or rocks so your only in the strike zone a few feet, then you reel in with a quick ratio reel to re-cast quicker and save time.
  12. Suspending jerk baits work well on suspended fish around docks looking to ambush bait fish. Buzzers, soft jerk baits, crank baits, lip-less crank baits and chuggers suffice. I try to stay more off the bottom this time of year because the bass are active and in the upper portion of the water column.
  13. Natural colors like browns and blacks, you can also go with translucent whites. Also pumpkin seed.
  14. Tungsten is more sensitive which is important with detecting bites. Its also 25% smaller then same dimension lead weight so it will come through cover easier.
  15. Use them in cold water. The way the skirt swims and glides seems to trigger the bass and matches their mood. Scent and subtle action is important in cold water so i'd go with a uncle josh pork trailer.
  16. Make sure to take care of your line and check for nicks frequently. Also change it as long as you take care of it every 3 times you go fishing. The best knot for fluoro is the double clinch knot. with 10 lb line be sure to set your drag to about a third of the line weight.
  17. A lucky craft pointer should cover anything less then 10 feet. A lucky craft D-9 will get you down deeper on a lite line. Although they are expensive they are the best! The smithwick rougues or x-raps by rapala are also excellent.
  18. Generally when there is good wind and cloud cover in shallow water. Use a tandem blade willow/Indiana combo for added lift. Good times can be in the pres-pawn when you want to cover lots of water like large flats, or in the fall when bass are feeding on shad, you can flicker a spinner-bait on top
  19. Don't make it to complicated, use the right color, size, and weight you think will catch them on both and experiment and see which ones work better. Remember bass have brains the size of a pea.
  20. -Tungsten is 25% smaller then same size dimension lead, so it will slip threw cover easier and be more compact. -Tungsten transmits the bottom makeup better and allows you to feel subtle bites easier. -Tungsten comes in more diverse colors. -Tungsten is rounded smooth so it won't fray and cut your line like lead. -Tungsten is non-toxic, so it's environmentally friendly. -Tungsten is BETTER!!!!!!
  21. Concentrate your efforts more towards the main-lake, unless the water is extremely Muddy. Fish will be located on sharp drop off and fast sloping contours, channels, bluffs, just mainly vertical structure. Sometimes bass just suspend in the water column. This time of year i like suspending jerk baits because you can pause them in one spot for a long time.
  22. I've landed a lunker trashbag, and also a clam.
  23. Yeah, i pretty much just swing every fish that's under 2 pounds up and into my hands with no problem as long as the line is a little on the heavier side. If i'm using light line (4-6 lb) i'll just lip most bass. But i'm careful not to let the fish flop all over the boat to ensure their slime doesn't rub off.
