  1. To directly answer your question, the Hot sauce oil is very good stuff. I've used it for 3 years and it works great, zero complaints.
  2. My micro carbonlite just lost an insert today! I've lost 3 inserts in the past year on diffrent rods after never having that issue in my life. I really don't think I'm gonna buy another pac bay guided rod again.
  3. Haha so true. At any rate Mike its a good rod for the $. U mentioned jerkbaits. Today i threw a megabass vision on It and it did okay, though 7' is pushing it For length on a jerkbait rod in my hand.
  4. I have that Bucoo and actually love throwing spinnerbaits on it. It isn't quite soft enough for crankbaits IMO. If u like buzzbaits you'll love this rod. Most of the time that's all I throw on it.
  5. Gotta deal on some spiderwire stealth in 30lb a few years back. Its been great. Still has its color, casts smooth and no dig in issues. Power pro, stren, and regular suffix have been good to me also. You'll find most braids are very similar when comes to actual performance when fishing.
  6. Absolutely! I fish alot of places that have filemtous algae and its 1/4oz or less. Ive considered getting some custom jigs made with 5/0 or 6/0 hooks for a bigger profile, but never have gotten around to it.
  7. The RC's fish great. I fully reccomend them. A warning however. On the very first fish I caught (well my 6 year old son did actually) the trebles where nearly straightened by a 3lbr (on 8lb mono not even braid). They are sharp but very very weak.
  8. Assuming your just reffering to the parts of a reel that do get oil, and not grease... Just adding oil can have a negative effect on performance. You need to clean the part, be it a bearing, worm gear whatever then lube. With that said, I always thought the "lube port" in BPS reels was kinda dumb. The spool bearings get the most attention on my reels, probably every 8-10 trips or so. I don't use much oil on them. Your chronarch will have them in each side cover. The revo will have an additonal bearing on the spoolshaft, behind a pin. You can oil or grease the worm gear. Grease will be longer lasting, but it can trap dirt particles and cause premature wear (in theory, ive never personally seen it).
  9. My reason for using a leader. I save a ton of $ on line. All other benifits are icing on the cake.
  10. The old xj-100 brokenback minnow plug. Just a funbait to fish that would catch all species big and small.
  11. Bushnell banner dusk/dawn. Awesome value, can be found for 80 bucks. It gathers light AMAZINGLY. You can count the points on deer 300+ yards out that you can barely tell are there with your eyes. I cant say enough good things about these scopes. It unseated a $500 leupold on my model 700.
  12. While we're on semantics lol... Keeping the thought in regards to the "pull" of a fish biting, dragging up against a stump, etc. You could argue that a high end ultra light is the most sensitive rod there is (the TT crew seems to think so also). With that said if everything were apples to apples in action, components, etc, would a heavier powered rod be LESS sensitive than a lighter counterpart? I'm sure as far as bass gear goes it isnt drastic. But I think it would at least transmit lighter "pulls" or bites better.
  13. When I started doing tower work years ago, we were often asked to do some pretty hairy things 300'+ off the ground. Whenever somebody whined, my old foreman's favorite line was "sometimes you just half to push your man button".
  14. Great thread. I've wondered about palming baitcasters. 90% of your hand is actually touching the reel, not the rod. I've heard guys mention that reels made predominately of certain materials transmit vibration better...Could it be the lighter magnesium, C6, carbon, etc help you percieve the "pull" better?
  15. I'll use them when I throw the rebel crawfish crank. I spooled some Nano fil on a reel this past weekend and could cast an RC.05 into the next zip code. So I may use spinners more for this technique just because this is a spinner only line.
  16. I hear ya man and used to feel the same way. If u take the time to learn the Alberto, this system is the way to go if u want to use premium line on the cheap. I've had the same braid mainline on an e7 for close to 3 years. If it weren't for the fact I'm a sucker for trying new lines I wouldn't have bought any in a long time.
  17. Yeah that may have been a little over the top lol. I just think its awesome to see him in the thick of things, alot of the old schoolers cant compete any more.
  18. I can tell you from experience, Shaw is a legit guy. Probably my favorite pro angler. You gotta like how he can still be competive at the pro level. I honestly think alot of the old school legends are overated compared to the elite modern guys. Its so much more competive now.
  19. I've yet to hear it brought up, but I'd stress the importance of proper nutrient timing. You can work your butt off but if your body isn't getting what it needs at the right time ur killing yourself for diminishing returns. For example, U want a different protein in the early am than before Bed. Simple carbs are your best friend post workout, but bad at other times. Don't overlook your fiber intake... Etc, etc, etc. _
  20. Took my 6 year old out Saturday to the family farm to shoot the .22 and maybe wet a line for a few. Glad we did, got to see the bugger catch his PB lol. Awesome day!
  21. The Cl handle is a great cheap way to lighten/bling out a reel. They'll fit just about every major company except Shimano iirc (swept handle design obviously). I did it to several reels. Im trying to recall if it was the c.l or the pro qaulifier tournament that only had one bearing per knob, so add one from the revo if needed, it makes a difference.
  22. Google Bps reel repair then call em

Thanks for the link man! From what i gather, the .243 was the 6mm's downfall. Alot of people already had a .243, albeit the .244 (later known as REM 6MM) was a bit faster and flatter shooting off the shelf.
  24. Polarized glasses and time on the water are the only way to know. Blanket statements dont apply, especially with the inconsistent weather we've had these past few years. Ive noted fish on beds over the years and tried to find a correlation. Not as easy as people make it sound. Water temps are the most solid thing to hang your hat on. I've noticed new moon + water temps hitting 58-60 are a good time. Sam's dogwood trick has some weight, and is definetly a good time to at least check. Remember big fish are the first to go shallow, kick into prespawn and spawn. So they may be on beds before you see a mass group of fish.
  25. A few years back, I went through some trying times. Fishing was an outlet for me. I went so often that I got my waters and alot of techniques really dialed in. i got to the point where catching 2lbrs didnt nothing for me, and decided to dedicate my time to pursueing trophy fish, with decent success for my area. The thing is, going after the bigger fish can be a feast or famine deal. Like hunting big whitetails, you simply have to put in the time to consistently catch them. I'm now married with two kids, work full time, just started school, and am on the leadership team of 700 person church. So my time on the water has reduced drastically. I try to take a few vacation day here and there for all day "serious" trips with old friends but thats about it. What I've discovered is that I'm actually enjoying going out and throwing a little .05 RC crank or shakeyhead again. Where as a few years ago alot of the lures I was chucking started life in the saltwater section lol. My son and I have a blast catching grasshoppers and worms to drown under bobbers.I sometimes forget everything is so new to him, and its awesome to hear him tell people things like "I caught my first crapper!". That gets going more than any fish lol. Have any of you guys changed your styles as life's changed? Josh
