  1. I'm not sure if it's a 24 volt or not, it might say on it I need to look. It's a Motor Guide Brute that's 4 or 5 years old. It does have 4 cables, so there's a cable to go on each terminal. And there is a breaker box deal with 2 red buttons on it, but they didn't seem tripped. Like I said the prop twitches, moving maybe 1/4 a turn when I push the button. And it was out and working great about a month ago.
  2. Hello, I bought my first bass boat not long ago, but I'm having problems with the trolling motor. I took it out twice since I've had it. The very first time I took it out the trolling motor seemed to lock up(like it was catching), and I would have to pull it out of the water and turn the prop by hand a couple times and it would work fine again. This happened 2 or 3 times and then after that it always worked great. I was told the boat hadn't been used for much in the past 2 years before I got it so I thought maybe that had something to do with it. Now for the CURRENT PROBLEM. The batteries were old and never would fully take a charge so last payday I replaced them. After I replaced them I checked the trolling motor just to make sure everything was still working. But the trolling motor didn't. When I press the button to make it go you just hear a light click and the prop turns about a 1/4 turn. I messed with it awhile double checking connections and all that and never got it to work. Any ideas what might be wrong?
  3. Hello, I recently bought a boat and the tip(about 1-2") of the skeg is broke off. The lower unit and all that has been rebuilt since, I'm not worried about those type of things. I'm just wondering how important it might be to fix this and if it's used for anything more then prop protection. I know they sell skeg guards which would basically fix my problem, but I'm not sure if it's something I need to do.
  4. I just bought my first bass boat, a 19ft. 1995 Nitro with a 175. The trolling motor, dual charger and fish finder where all only 3 years old. It seems to be in really good condition for the age. I paid right around $5,000 for it but it books at almost $7000. Sit back and wait to find a good deal like this, it's possible if you are willing to look and wait. I would agree that I also really like Stratos boats and you can sometimes find newer ones (1996-1999) for a price that some other brands older boats sell for.
  5. Does anyone have a little bit bigger boat 18-21ft they could give me the size from?
  6. Yes the decal that says "Nitro" on the side of the boat toward the rear. Any help would be awesome!
  7. I have alittle bit of a weird request, but hopefully someone will help me out. I've got my boat all shined up, and now I've decided it would look like new if I had some new Nitro decals on it. The one's on there are all scratched up and peeling. My boat is a 95 and in 96 they switched to a new style decal. I have a guy that can make them for me but I need the dimensions. So any nitro owners with boats 1996-new how big are the nitro decals?? from pictures I'm guessing 8x36, put my decal guys thinks they're bigger.
  8. I totally agree about the boats you see/hear on that water and they have music so loud you can hear it acorss the lake. If you want to listen to music that's great, but if other people don't want to they shouldn't have to hear it just because these people want to blast their music. My plan was just for alittle background music when I'm fishing by myself like Glenn said, and also a easy way to check weather, things like that. I really don't even need it to play cd's which is why after reading all the responses I'm leaning toward a portable stereo. Thanks for all the great info.
  9. I have a jackplate which I think will give me all the space I need to change them without moving the motor. The hydraulic stearing has also crossed my mind. I've found some kits on ebay for around $400. If I could get a kit that worked for my boat for that much I'd probably just do that if it's really that much nicer. I don't know how hard something like that is to install though. I'll have to try and look into hydraulic more and weight to options.
  10. It's stiff all the time compared to what they normally are, but it is stiffer under a load then say when it's on the trailer. When the motor is trimmed all the way down getting on plane giving it all it has it's almost to the point you can't turn it.
  11. I have a 95 Nitro with a 175. The cables are getting to the point that you can hardly turn it with both hands at times. I've called about new cables and they are $125each (i need 2). Obvioulsy I would rather not spend this kind of money, any thing that I could do first to try and fix my problem? Or also anywhere people know of that I could get cheaper cables? That price was for the original Teleflex brand, I'm not sure if you have to buy those exact ones for replacements or not...I would assume you do.
  12. Thanks for all of the input, I'm thinking more and more about just buying a portable type stereo. I've found some that have AM/FM and also weather bands, CB channels ect. I think I might go with one of those and same some money and work.
  13. Thanks for the info, I've installed stereo's and speakers a few times so I think I'll be able to pull this off. I'm not wanting anything great, just something to keep me company if I'm alone and the fishing is slow. If cutting the fiberglass is ok I don't think this will be to hard of project.

  15. I've been looking into putting a stereo in my bass boat so I can listen to some tunes while the fishing is slow. I have a single console Nitro and I'm not really sure where I would mount the cd player or speakers. Is it ok to cut holes in the fiber glass to mount them(such as where the storage is), or is that going to harm the boats structure? I know they also make speakers that come with brackets and you can mount them anywhere, but I don't really know where I would mount those either. If anyone has any advice let me know.
