Hi guys, I have not long been bass fishing, but have recently taken it up, i currently reside in Cyprus where the bass fishing isnt great but its my only real option as the sea fishing here is terrible, i have a passion for fishing so thought why not. As a beginner i have never used a baitcaster before so i am looking to get one a long with a new rod. I would say that i fish once a week and i was hoping you guys could help me out with an all purpose rod as i know that most are specific. The rods i have in mind are: Abu Garcia - Vendetta 6'8 Daiwa - T Casting rod - 7' Shimano - Clarus 7' Carrot Stix - Wild 7' (would be great to get your opinion on these as all the reviews i have seen have been terrible.) The reels: Dawai Megaforce 100 Shimano Caius 200 Abu Garcia Black Max 2 Any help on this would be great appreciated guys and if someone could help explain the difference the rod length has other than casting distance would be greatly appreciated. I mainly fish shallow crank baits, swimbaits and top water lures but would like to have a rod that also allows me to throw worms, jigs etc. Thanks in advance guys.

Hi Guys Great thread! I havn't long been fishing in Cyprus or bass fishing as a whole i do have a fair bit of fishing experience but thats in sea fishing. Iv watched numerous youtube videos and read numerous articles on here and learnt a fair bit about bass fishing. Iv been to Germasogia dam and Kalavasos dam. I started last summer and managed to catch 4 bass 3 on swimbaits and 1 on a popper. But there is one thing i cannot get my head round, where to fish ??? Certain parts of the dam are very hard to get to due to the steep banks, and as boats are not allowed on the dam i dont know whats in the water such as cover, sunken trees etc. And help in regards to this aspect would be great as well as what works best for you ? jigs, plastics, crankbaits etc... Looks like its going to be a good year with the dams overflowing there was a problem recently with the Telapia due to the changing temperatures they fished out 800kg of dead Telapia from a nicosia dam and when i whent to Germasogia there were around 15 dead in the space of 10 meters. How soon will you start fishing i have been a few times recently but it still seems a little cold, i spotted a group of 3 bass fished every lure in my box over and around them for hours and not one wanted to take.
