Your Favorite Rapalas
rapalas are tough to beat.. my all time fav sand bass lure is a small black back rapala floating minnow.. are the discontinued rattlin raps in chrome blue and firetiger...
-
Favorite Squarebill Cranks
I still love the wiggle warts in chrome/black...and Bagley Killer B deep diver in firetiger.... haven't tried the fat free shad much but hear it's great...used to always catch a lot on bagley small fry in perch...

Live Bait???
get a cast net... When the bite got tough on a local lake I used to fish... in the heat of the summer... would fish all day, then catch perch before it got dark.. used a lighted bobber and fished closed to trees with the perch... it was a lot cooler and the fish bit a lot better.... we caught bass to 6 lbs. big catfish and got broke off a few times 2...

Best Lure For Pressured Fish
I've had good luck with the small 3" powerbait minnows in bluegill...and they are cheap at 2.99 at BPS... if it gets real tough dropshot... with the lures the guys are talking about... also I like the zoom finesse worms in watermelon... Also try this... dropshot a senko... throw it way out there on spinning gear.. but let it just sit for a minute or two .... watch the line... no hits .. then start working it back in... fancast and keep repeating.... it works and works on the big uns 2... I had a time one day in the fall.. it was a real nice day but no luck... I was very frustrated.. couldn't catch much at all... then I start looking thru the tackle box.. found an old rapala rattlin rap in chrome blue.. started swimming it fast and it would tick the top of the grass and rip it out... wham... bam... ended up catching 30 that day.. only up to 2.5 lbs... then went to the lower end and disaster struck.... rod bowed double and the line was stripping off... had her where i thought there were no stickups and she simply dove down into the hydrilla... I had no chance on light mono... and ended up breaking the lure off... good luck.

Best Lure/technique To Start My 8 Year Olds On
you know especially in ponds those small roostertails and panther martins work great... they can work em like a spinnerbait or jig em up and down.... A topwater frog is exciting to see that strike... maybe a stanley ribbit or zoom toad... Zara spook for sure.. and chugger bait like a PoP R works great early.... Next I'd stock a few spinnerbaits in their box... booyah, terminator, chatterbait, etc... But I think my favorite lures now you should add are ... fluke(watermelon seed), senko(watermelon), and powerworm... (blue fleck) 7" I'd also buy a pack of 10" ones if any huge bass are around... 3/0 hooks usually... but on the big worms have to go with 4 or 5/0.... If you wanted to buy a cool topwater that would get their interest up.. go to ebay and look for a Powerpak lure... believe it or not... it's kinda a gimmick lure with the string... when you pop it the tail flutters and it goes in a circle for a while... cool lure and it does catch big bass... I caught a 7 lb. bass one day on it and had another pop it way up in the air... around 5 bux on ebay... I still like the old tiny torpedo topwater lures.. maybe you could find a few of those?? Also a few rattle traps... although I do catch a lot more fish on the rattlin raps... chrome/blue And last but not least I do catch a lot of fish drop shot fishing... many times you catch smaller fish this way, but the name of the game with kids is catching... you can also wacky rig with the drop shot... My fav. is both zoom products... zoom finesse worm in watermelon... and zoom trick worm in candy color... a reg worm hook will work, but I like the small dropshot hooks for this technique... also try it with Senkos ( a good brand if trying to save money is the Strike King Zero...) Last, we got craws and they work great in ponds... I'd buy a few packs of Baby paca craws, and Berkley chigger craws,,,, probably can't find the Gene Larew salt craws, but they are the best craw ever if you come across any... Good luck

Falcon Bucoo- Recommendations???
My friend just bought a Falcon Bucoo Rod- really light feel to it... Anyways it's in my budget and just wondered which one to get... I like to fish worms, spinnerbaits, flukes, and medium diving crankbaits and some lipless crankbaits... which one would work best??? gonna be on a Revo Stx reel... Anyone out there use this rod.... what do you think of it so far???? probably be a few days before I buy one- and I didn't see them at Bass Pro or Academy so have to find somewhere that carries the rod... Thanks...

New To Bait Casters Please Help!!!
an earlier post said there may be a price drop on revo... I have a Revo Stx and can't remember the last time I backlashed it... and a great drag on it... super smooth reel.... it's so light, but tough and dependable at the same time... it's smooth as butter... and of course the shimanos mentioned are super reels... What I'd do is go to bass pro if available and they have a display of each reel... and you can reel on them a while and see which one feels better to you...

Sold My Calcutta 200- Looking For Another Saltwater Reel Around $150
thanks for the help.... yeah I loved the 200 but really would wear you out... I found a deal on a 50 and bought it.... I know it doesnt hold near as much line so if I hook a red I'm in big trouble... I mostly fish for trout and I think it will do fine for that... The 100 sounds like a great deal also... may buy one of those later on....

Going To Try Braid On My Spinning Reel Again. Suggestions Please.
I never used backing on my spinning reel... just put a small piece of electrical tape over the knot and worked great... You've got to use all palamor knots with braid... and Powerpro is a great value priced line... I use a palamor knot on all my knots now... it's a lot stronger knot so I'm glad I had to learn it.... if you fish for some species of fish... like speckled trout or crappie you got to be a careful and not set the hook to hard.... I think flurocarbon works much better for those species of fish...

Flukes, How Do You Fish Them?
walk the dog method.... I use a small split shot a couple inches above the hook....and when the bass go deeper I use the same technique on a weighted hook.... never fished them on a drop shot, but have heard folks on here having success with that... also, if they are not biting the fluke, you might try the senko... Usually they will hit one or the other...

Best Lures For Small Lake With Weeds And Algae
I used to fish a small pond like that with tons of weeds/moss.... A chatterbait-small size- worked well... but had to have the trailer hook or missed most of the fish.... X2 on the dropshot... maybe try a trick worm with it.... one of the best days I had on that pond though was on a rattlin rap.. I had to burn it to keep it out of the moss... and the fish just tore it up... it's worked well on most ponds I've been to... As far as frogs.. love the Stanley Ribbit... and if the grass isn't too bad on top, on those cloudy/overcast days a Zara spook is hard to beat....as well as a buzzbait...

Golf Scramble Youth Camp Fundraiser... Mesquite,tx.
Hi- My name is Ben Hodge and member of Macedonia Bapt. church in Mesquite, Tx. If there are any golfers interested, going to have a Golf Scramble at Mesquite Municipal Golf course in Mesquite,Tx. tenatively scheduled for sometime between May 18-21... The reason for the event is to send underprivlidged youth in our area to church camp At Camp Minnetonka in Oklahoma.... it costs around $200 per kid to send them to camp, needless to say without help they have no chance to go..... We are looking for around 20 4 man teams.... and the cost will be $40 which will cover Green fee/cart, lunch, and prizes....you pay the day of the tournament at the door...you can bring your own team, or we can place you on a team.... Even if you havent golfed in a while... it will still be a lot of fun... as most of us aren't good golfers.... There will be a par 3 contest prize, Long Drive Hole prize, silent auction, and a raffle... Shoot me a email at benchodge@hotmail.com or call Ben at 817 657 5597 for more details.....

I Cant Fish My Lake Anymore? What Can I Do?
grow a beard and mustache and get a different look.... so if he sees you again he won't recognize you.... make sure his car is not there and maybe even park a ways away and walk in ... then they will probably think you live there.... it seems to be just a case of a cop wanting to push around his authority ... who knows???? I've had the same prob. on a place the owner gave permission.... I tressbass a little and I don't like it... but a bank fisherman like me has limited options....
