  1. I did not try a jig. I thought they were just to big for the male which looked like maybe a 2lber at most. What size would you recommed and color? And should I use a trailer or not? The smallest jig I got is a 5/16oz and Ill probably give that one a try. My brother which was fishing with me also gave the fish a try and used a bluegill swimbait but couldn't get a strike either. Zel, thanks for the special rig, Ill definetly give it a try. Thanks for all other replys.
  2. I need some help on catching some bedding bass. At a local lake the bass are spawing and I went out today to give it a try and could not buy a bite. I did some homework and research and read about using a plastic lizard as salamanders are a spawing bass' worst enemy but the male just would not bite. I was able to get his attention a few times but he would just storm at the bait and at the last minute before striking it he would just turn away as making intimidating moves at it. I would pitch the lizard past the bed and slowly crawled it into the bed and held it still for a while but the male would not nudge it, pick it up to move it or bite. I was using my finess gear with 6lb line and a 6in lizard with a 1/0 hook. I also tried a pumpkin 3in tube, nothing, a gulp green pumpkin 6in worm and nothing also. I also tried two different scents one being a Baitmate live (from wal-mart) and smelly jelly shad scent. I even got desperate and threw a jerkbait as I noticed the male would chase of other swimming by bass and nothing.
