  1. Congrats and good luck with your new opportunity! Douglas
  2. We have dropped multiple cedar trees under docks for cover. This is done primarily for crappie but we always seem to pull a few smaller bass out of them as well. Now, this is something we are going to try this year (since a few other posts have convinced me big bass like the structure more than cover). We are going to drop large rocks off the end of a couple of docks to make a 'structure' off the bottom. If anybody thinks this a bad idea, speak up and save me the trouble of rolling 50 pounds rocks into the water! :-?
  3. janalon, No matter what exercises you do, you may still experience a little soreness unless you are doing exercises that are very close to the same range of motion as your cast/flip. (I speak from experience-I have been into non-competitive bodybuilding for 7 years and I am still sore after a day of slingin' my baitcaster) If you are experiencing muscle soreness, stretching before and after fishing will likely help as much as exercises. If the 'pain' you are experiencing is joint/skeletal related, you might want to be more concerned about it. Or...I like RW's idea, sling 12 ounces at a time and forget all about it! ;D
  4. CJ, I know what you mean. I get some crazy looks but for the opposite reason: 2005 Acura MDX (north of 40 grand) and a 14' jon w/ a Minn Kota ($900)
  5. Last year I dropped $1700 for her golf clubs so she can't say much about my St. Croix Premier or Shimano Citica. Our setup is this: I make the $ so I am supporting both of our hobbies. I am very fair with her and spend (about) the same amt on her as my habits/hobbies. That is the way it works with us. As far as staying out late, she doesn't care if I am fishing....she knows I am not causing any trouble if I am out on a lake somewhere. When she goes out with the girls it is hard telling when she will get home so once again, it is a 2 way street. Not sure of your setup, but ours works since it is an even playing field.
  6. The bait monkey has a mean streak. He just walked in my office (Don't even ask how he got past security), punched me in the face and said "Snap out of it. Of course you need another St. Croix" I hate it when that happens.
  7. I am in St. Louis....Clayton to be exact. Most of my fishing is back my parent's farm which is the other side of Columbia MO. Always looking for private lakes to fish within the area and/or someone to fish with if anyone has any suggestions....
  8. For anyone who has visited the spring classic at their local BPS, did you notice any discount on St. Croix rods? The bait monkey is making buy another one. :-[
  9. any favorite colors on the brush hog?? looks like they manufacture over 30 colors.....
  10. How do you guys fish the brush hog? T-rig? Carolina Rig? I apologize if this is a silly question-new to the bass game. Doug
  11. Does anyone have specifics on the reel trade in deal? I 8 or 10 older reels that are doing me no good right now....
