The Bite Is Still On
Some catches from yesterday. A few 1- 2 pounders and a nice one around 6 pounds. Caught on a shad colored swimming fluke, air temp around 45 with overcast skies and a steady wind. Sorry about the bad pics on the big one, it had gotten dark and the flash washed out a lot of detail. Brandon

Good Evening In Alabama
Hey ya'll. The fall bite is finally on here. The last couple months havent been very productive because of the heat. Caught 5 today, one around 5lbs, one around 3lbs, and the other three were dinks, but fun to catch. They were all caught on a weightless Zoom superfluke. Thanks for looking, Brandon

Any Idea What The Heck This Is?
That's a large grass carp. Got them in the lake I fish in. I didnt think carp had such dark fins either, but I paddled up on them the other day after being curious just like you, and in the clear water I could see them quite well before they spooked off.

Who Said That Crap Doesn't Float?
The lake I am currently fishing has it too. Sort of a gunky slime. I havent found anything that I can fish with in it, Ive just been working the edges and open spots with a rubber worm, but even then, it still gets some gunk on it every now and then. Brandon

Alabama Hawg
**UPDATE** I just checked my answering machine, and my taxidermist measured the length, girth and weighed on a certified scale today. 25" in length, 17 1/2" in girth, and 9lbs 4oz in weight. The only thing I had to weigh with before was my digital bathroom scale, so I weighed myself, then weighed again holding the fish and it fluctuated and came up with an 8lb difference. Im glad to know she weighed more than 8, but I would have been just as thrilled if that was all. Brandon

Basswhippa- I'll have to keep that in mind incase the situation arises again. Thanks for the tip. Brandon

Is It Slow In Your Area Right Now
Nice fish that you and your boy caught there. I find with all this heat, its been slowing the fish down a lot. Ive swapped over to finesse fishing rubber worms with a lot better success rate than say, with a crankbait, or spinnerbait. Its real hot, and these bass want to expend the least amount of energy possible to get a meal. Brandon

Thanks for all the kind words fellas, it was a great day for me. Logan9209- There has been several caught over 10lb in the last two years, no miracle grow, just plenty of bluegill to feed on. Basswhippa- Didn't get a chance to measure the length and girth before wrapping her up and getting it on ice, but I told the taxidermist to get some measurements and weigh it on their certified scale today. Also, yes, my personal best is 10lb 7oz. caught at a pond where I was not allowed to keep it. I didnt even have a camera with me to get a picture, it kind of made me sick since the man who owned the pond was selling his place at auction the next week, and it wouldnt have mattered if I kept "his" fish or not. I caught several in the 7's this past year and said if I got one atleast 8lb that I would mount it. Thanks again, Brandon

Alabama Hawg
Caught this morning in a local farm pond on an 8" blue/red glitter worm. While not my biggest bass to date, I decided I would like to get her mounted. It took a lot of back and forth thinking on whether to let her go or not, but I had no way to get pics or measurements for a replica, and the pond regularly produces bass of this size, so I dont feel too terrible about it. I want one good one to go on the wall, and I'll be happy with letting the rest I catch go. She scaled in at 9lbs 4oz. 25" in length, with a 17 1/2" girth, and put up a great fight. I'm one happy camper. Thanks for looking! Brandon

Hey ya'll, My name is Brandon Sullivan and I hail from West-central Alabama. I stumbled across the forum a few days ago and decided to go on and register. Been fishing for about 15 years consistantly. Slacked off a couple years ago after losing my home to a fire, and just recently picked back up on my fishing. I enjoy fishing in local farm ponds, as well as the Alabama, Cahawba, and Black Warrior rivers. Brandon
