  1. Hi all. I've owned and used spinning reels for about as long as I've been fishing, but I recently tried a friend's baitcasting reel and have thought about getting one for myself just to try something different. I stil do a fair amount of fishing with a basic slip bobber and live bait setup, but I'm curious if anyone knows whether or not baitcasters will work with bobber stops (assuming the bobber stop is set deep enough that it would be wound onto and cast from the spool). I ask becuase the line on the spool needs to pass through the levelwind when being cast or retrieved, and it looks like a bobber stop could easily get caught up in the eye/hole in the levelwind and not cast properly. Just thought I'd see if anyone has experience with using bobber stops with a baitcaster and if it's possible, or if some bobber stops would work better than others. The small rubber oval bobber stops, for example, seem like they would be problematic as they're about the same diameter as the eye of the levelwind, but I'm not sure if the plastic "dogbone" style bobber stops would be less problematic or work without issue, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
