  1. Ah gotcha, I can see where that would be useful for leader adjustment. Might have to give it a shot I am just kind of a traditionalist with a lot of things but assuming they hold well and all I don't see much wrong with using it. I personally like a 3/4 tungsten bullet weight faceted glass bead and a clacker I feel like the clicking it creates helps attract bass as it is generally a search type of bait. Another thing I like to do is put a bobber stopper about 1/2-3/4 inch in front of my weight, in my mind it is helping get more clacks. Not sure if it really is but gives me more confidence.
  2. Not sure what the keeper thing is ? I c-rig when I can't get bit on a jig and I have always tied traditional, weight, bead, clacker, swivel, 15lb mono leader, hook. I also use braid on my c- rig rod to make te weight side knot tougher and less likely to break. But I am curious about this "keeper"
  3. If your going to convert I using braid on everything you need to back your rod action all down one power, since you no longer have line stretch to assist keeping pressure on the hook you depend on your rod having a good parabolic action to it so that you keep more consistent pressure on the hook.
  4. Sniper is the best light line flouro on the market IMO. It handles great and is very low stretch for how soft it is. I use the 7lb on both of my spinning rods.
  5. I prefer 7+ but I use the ardent f700 which unfortunately only comes in 6.3
  6. I have the 765 flippin rod and I wouldn't trade it for anything, cost more then any of my other combos but 90% of my time on te water is pitching flipping and punching and this rod is perfect very light very well balanced I use it with a ardent f700 and couldn't be happier never had any trouble with thick mats or pads, the rod is at te top of its class IMHO. And if your serious about it would be money well spent.
  7. I take my plastics bags inside so they don't melt lol and leave everything else in the boat, I only clean my rods once a month and I check lines for Knicks before I throw it so if I have I retie it happens on the water for me. And hard baits just dry out on the boat I replace the hooks often though so I don't take extra care, as well as rings. And plastic take a few seconds to re rig so I don't really change them either.
  8. Thank you very much for the heads up bout to order a ton of em
  9. 3/8 oz northstar custom baits jig is always my go to either black n blue or green pumpkin color Denny brauer 3x craw trailers matching colors
  10. Flouro also has a smaller diameter than mono so it cuts trough the water better helping baits get down faster and deeper, and I agree with Meister I your fishing 30-40 feet try using your electronics to locate fish and try drop shotting or flutter spoons, c-rig depending on depth of the fish,
  11. I run a white fluke behind a white swim jig quite often about 10 inches back and bps makes a double crankbait
  12. Have a slack line give I a quick snap with the rod and return it to slack right away and let it sit for 2-3 seconds and I use an easy cadence it goes pop, sit, pop pop, sit, pop, sit, pop pop
  13. They will work but use a big hook or you will start to get P Oed fast I have used them a few times with little success but the infomercial say they work great : )
  14. I always match my trailer the only variance I will have is one I add like dying claws or dying a few strands of skirt. But if your using north star jigs ( which you should be if your not!) I like the dennybrauer 3x chunks and use them as much as I can buy I I run out zoom super chunks match up well too
  15. I trim the "legs" on the hollow body ones to about 1 3/4 inches and tip low and twitch it back whether it walks or just pops forward the variance in the retrieve I believe is adding realism, and I don't throw toads I don't think ? I use black and white and that's about it for frogs. And I use them all day If the bite is good, open water early slop/ pads midday and both in the evening
  16. On really hot days a always try 3 methods until I find them, deep ledge cranking/ football head I give them 2 speeds and diff presentations, If I have no luck then I move to frogs and find thick shallow cover, just rinse and repeat and you will get into them eventually
  17. The skeet reels are not bad my friend has 3 and loves em nice oversize handle you just have to oil them before you take em out his we're dry when he got them once oiled they are smooth an quiet. And I use the skeet cranking rod and am very happy with it , the other odd though seem to break a lot. And the veritas I an amazing rod for the price I have 3 and love them
  18. I take 6 rods with me on te boat and that's all I own. Besides a fee surf rigs. I don't use a lot of different techniques so 6 is all I would need some people like to fish 10-12 different ways in a day do they can justify the rods, for me it's 2 jigs 1 frog 1 crankbait 1 senko and a shakey head. I never change up lures I can always get bit on what I have rigged. So for me retieing isn't an issue I only do it when I get a fray or break off. For you it might be different you can justify Ross for specific technique IMHO
  19. Tru-tungsten has 4 inch 4 section swimbaits that are like 15 bucks and you can add weight to help them stay at any depth, had a lot of success with mine in bluegill pattern, swims true and is easy to maneuver as far as controlling depth and directional changes
  20. I reel set with most everything except for jigs and frogs, or of I'm punching mats
  21. I like the strike king double takes they run true no matter how many fish I catch, and it's a now presentation for the fish, also they work well if you take the skirt off and put a 4-5" hollow body swimbait on it
  22. Loving the hart bladed swim jigs stop and go retrieve let em flutter a bit and I have been gettin really good strikes !! As for baits I would like to try Spro Bbz-1 4" swimbaits Dirty jigs no jack flippin jigs Number 6 rooster tail
  23. White bottom is all that matters IMO and I hate frog fishing right now : ( lost a new pb last weekend at the Side of te boat
  24. For flouro I tie San Diego jam, mono uni knot, braid palomar or snell
