Overpopulation of bass, there is not enough food for all the bass, that is why the fish are starving. There is not enough predators to counter balance the population of bass. There is nothing you can do if it is only catch and release. But I do agree with Kevin22 there has to be a few big bass in the lake you just have you find them. Good luck

I don't bother cutting braid with a pair of pliers or a pocket knife anymore. I really love my Rapala super line scissors they retail for $4.99 and they are great. Had mine for a year and a half and it cuts braid so easily.

I was thinking of picking some up.

I have started fishing the drop shot and I have had some success on it. Right now I am using 8lb Trilene XL mono and I want to step it up. My one question is should I get braid or fluorocarbon. My setup is a Pflueger Supreme with a 6' 9" Medium Light Fast action Fenwick EliteTech Smallmouth. I will also use this setup for senkos and shakey heads or anything else that is finesse.

Last year I started using senkos, and i was addicted to them. All I used was a senko and if I could not get a bite I was lost. I did use other baits but a senkos was tied on 80% of the time. This year I stoped using them as much, there were only a few days that I was fishing a senko. It is a lot more fun banging a crank on stumps then watching your line on a senko. I noticed I am catching a lot more fish using other techniques that I almost can't go back to a senko.

If you are missing fish on the frog then there may be a few things wrong. One you may set the hook to early, wait until you feel the fish or until you see your line moving. Two you may be setting the hook hard enough, when I'm fishing a frog and i get a blow up I put the end of the rod under my arm pit to get more leverage. Three you may be fishing the frog to fast, just because you have a fast reel doesn't mean you have to fish it fast. Four the bass may just miss the frog this happens, and the best thing to do is to NOT reel in the frog right away then fire it back out there. But to keep fishing it and there are times where the bass will hit it again. Good luck and if all else fails put a frog trailer hook on and that may fix your problem.

I have 2 goals this year, the 1st being expanding my knowledge on different techiques and 2nd is catching my PB which is about 6 pounds. I'm still working on my 1st goal.

With the black series should I cut the skirt a little so it is not as long or should I leave it as is?

I don't buy expensive lures that much because i only have so much money, however i did lose a strike king sexy frog when my line snapped on a bass on one of my local pond. I bought a new one the next day and went out fishing only to find it on top of the water where I lost it. The bass must of spit it out. However I did lose a Daredevil to a big pike. (I mostly fish soft plastics)

I getting into jig fishing and I recently purchased some jigs from NorthStar Custom Baits and i noticed that the skirts were really long and really thick and the weed gaurd is long as well. Is there any thing that you do to your jigs to either catch more fish or to get better action from your trailers or for some other reason. Thanks

Mine is also the anaconda or the Craw.

I like using big 10 inch curly tail worms. I also had some luck using the swim senko, caught a 4lb on this. Im not much of a Carolina rig person, but these baits work when i do use it.

Jigs or a swimbait you may not get a lot of bites but you will catch the bigger bass. Good luck.

If it is to easy to catch fish, you are not learn as much as someone that has to find the fish and deal everything that happens on a public lake. I would love fishing private ponds but somethings it is fun having a challenge.

We can't fish for bass until May 28, but we can fish border waters like the Mississippi river.

Drop shot Jigs Swimbaits Crankbaits Chatterbaits Tubes I fish with these once and a while with some success but i never stick with them.
