  1. I live right on Seneca River.... Takes about 5 mins to get to Cross Lake in the 27' Checkmate Convinser... but thats my dads boat. Im buying a 16' bass boat this year. Just savin up a little more, car insurance is a killer (180/month) It sucks...
  2. I'm not sure if it comes with a trailor. Just today, I talked to a few more friends about fishing, he lives down the road, on the river same as me. He has a 16' alum mod v-bottom, with a 25hp outboard, decks, livewell, and troling. He said he would sell that to me for less than the other 16' with a 25hp outboard. .... i guess livin out in the sticks you get the deals? Thanks for all the info guys, I'll show pics when I get a boat ;D
  3. Hey, Thanks for the info. haha i deffinately dont have 1000 bucks. I'm 18... and have a 180 car insurance payment, ... haha and snowboarding isnt cheap aswell... thanks for the help, any other info would be appreciated.
  4. OK, one of my friends has an aluminum 16' modified v bottom boat, with a 15 HP outboard, says it runs good and everything. He is checking with his dad but he said he will probably sell it for around $450-$500. What do you guys think?? BTW, i plan on doing decks, & a trolling motors and such. Thanks
  5. Hey, Thanks for all the info. The river I'm mostly going to be fishing is well deeper than 3 or 4 feet. There are some spots however, backwashes and such, that are about 2 or 3 feet. Will i still be able to get in there with a 12' mod-v. Another thing I am worried about with the v bottom boat, is if it will be stable enough to put a deck on. I know the kid who I plan on buying it from, and he says he can stand on one end of the bench and it wont tip. Will a deck add on more spread out weight and help it stable, or am i thinking all wrong? Thanks ~~~~~~~~~~ Chris
  6. I live in Central New York right on Seneca River. I am really only planing on going through the river, but perhaps sometimes out into a small lake, Cross Lake if anyone knows of it. Should i be looking at jon boats, or mod v boats. The rivers aren't as calm as they are down south, i was just wondering how a flat bottom boat will pound on the waves compared to the mod v, or deep v boats will. Any help would be appreciated, thanks ~~~~~~~~~~~ Chris
  7. T-Mike that boat came out awsome... ive been looking for a 14' jon boat for a few months now... trying to get a "low budget" one, and deck it out like you did. Hah love the 3 trolling motors, great job
  8. im lookin at buying a 14' jon boat as well... i have a small 5HP outboard, and plan on doing some decks. good luck with yours man.
