Aluminum for New && Improved Decks.
Anyone know how much 2 full sheets of 1/8" Stainless costs?? I was lookin at a site, it said like 450 for a sheet... I'd rather just buy a glass boat w/ a 40 horse and 2 councils if thats the case

Aluminum for New && Improved Decks.
So... I built decks 2 seasons ago, and they have warped quite a bit... Before: After: Ok... So, I was thinking about taking the seats out, designing a professional deck setup. A. Has anyone done this? B. What metal material should I use? (Stainless)...? C. What thickness D. I know metal will last a lot longer, will it weigh less=faster boat? Thanks much.

Able to put a deck/floor in a 14' v-hull?
Hey, I have a 14' ModV-Hull. Mine is very sturdy. I didnt make the decks leve with the top of the boat, i just rested them on the seats, heres a few pictures to give you an idea. My decks lift right out. No straps, or attatchments, and they stay put. I'm very happy w/ them, only wish i had a nice foot controlled trolling motor, fish finder, and a live well. Maybe next summer. PM if you would like any help, or have any questions.

Just Wondering, How Fast???
Thx bunch, So Ive been looking at specs and what not. I'm a little confused, you said that the 18 hp Tohatsu, 2stroke is really light, but every site ive come across says they weigh wroughly 115 pounds. Johnson, Evinrude, and Yamaha's 15 hp ouboards weigh like 70 pounds. These are brand new though, and i cant afford one. Are older moddels different? thanks for all the info though!!

Just Wondering, How Fast???
I know its probably impossible to know exactly how fast a boat would go. But how fast are your guys boats going?? I have a 14' Mod V. w/ Decks, 7 Hp Johnson, and I would be surprised if i was getting... 7 MPH by myself and gear. I was thinking about moving up to a 15, 20 or 25 HP outboard. How fast are your guys boats going, similar sizes, if u know the weight that would be awesome. Thanks. BTW.... i am going crazy, fishing-withdrawl.... i dont know if i can take it much longer.. haha anyone else feeling the same?!?

Adding deck/floor
Sry it took me so long to respond, umm i am pretty sure its 55 across, and yes it is very stable. I have a tall swivel seat on it, and i can sway back and forth on that and there is no way it will tip. I used it in a fishing tourny w/ two people on it, and no prob whatsoever. I go Catfish fishing during hte summer w/ 4 of us, and it is fine..

Everyone in the area knows my dad by the guy w/ the checkmate, so i had to do it... My dad's my idol... haha its sad, but i love the guy. Thanks for all the posts

Thanks for the info, 3/4 in. pres treated, check, any thing else? anyone?

First Boat!!
I put a deposit on a Mod V-Bottom Rowboat today! I have a 6 HP Johnson outboard motor, twin cyl. Its 14' long, 51' wide. Everything Ive read from here say "wide is good". so this should be wide enough for a front deck and such right? I want to do something like this... http://www.myjonboat.com/fussell.htm Any advice would be awsome, as well as other sites giving ideas, or pictures of projects and such. Another thing i was wondering, but doubt any would be able to tell, but a rough guestimate on the speed i should be thinking with a 6hp, and 14' rowboat w/ decks. I know decks will add weight and slow the boat, but I'm not racing it, so it should be good. Low priced, decent quality Trolling Motors and Depth Finders ideas would be appreciated as well. I will add pics of before during and after project as i go along. Thanks

gettin' a Johnson 7.5hp outboard fixed.
I've had this 7.5hp Johnson outboard motor in the garage for a few years now that a friend brought over... He doesnt want it anymore so i got it for free... took it into the shop to get fixed today, the guy said should cost 200-250 to repair it. Its a 1969, is it worth it? thanks for any responses
