  9. i was looking for a cheap fishfinder for my canoe. there are a bunch of used older ones on ebey for as low as 20$ what should i be looking for?
  10. thanks so much crestliner for all the advice. ilooked into it and i think i am going to get a fishfinder today, i found 1 for 110$ at canadian tire near my house that has some reaL good reviews. i am also going to try drop shot this weekend or wenever i get back out again. can you use live worms for this?
  11. and also when you guys say go deeper inhot clear weather does that meen 30+ feet in the midle of the lake or 10+ feen neer the shore?
  12. not sure how to explain the lake. it is about 2000m across and about 1500 wide in spots. it is fed by a river but is pretty shallow were the water comes in. it seems to be pretty deep in spots and seems to drop off fast from the shore line in allot of spots, there is also a small islane that seperated the town beash from the rest of the lake, thismorning it was brownish and i could start seeing my lures about 4 feet from the surface in the deeper parts.i am fishing from a canoe using either tubes, i have dark green a brown with a florecent tain and a white. i also use alot of pond magic spinnerbaits , id i try to use a hook and worm it get stolen by small perch rock bass and sunfish pretty fast.hope that gives a litle help in any advice posible.
  13. i am starting to think that i should have found a different hobby to fall in love with, been fishing this lake for weeks and haveing no luck at all. i know the fish are in there, my wife got one, and people i know have gotten them, i have tries every piece of advice i have gotten here and fished 4 hours thismorning spending 1 houre in 4 diferent spots with not as much as a nible.
  14. just went to the store and all they had was 2 packs of pre riged tubes. so i got them all, white with sparkles, dark brown with sparkles and brown with a florecent greenish frills. all made by matzuo, i also picked up some bass atractent from berkley, what is best for hot sunny days.
  15. i am fishing in a small lake in cowansville quebec, canada . not realy sure of the depth, i know it is pretty deep in spots and it droppes of fast is allot of places, there is a large part of the lake that is real shallow as well. it is low right now and has small islans starting to apear in places. it has also been a really warm and dry summer so far
  16. this is a fish my wife got a about a month ago. she put a small piece of leftover bloated worm in the water when my son said he was done for the day and it took the bait about 5 seconds later. i got a nice walley on a pond magic spinner just before and have been try`n to get a smallmouth every day for weeks now and just cant get one, tried spinners , topwaters, thin fins, grubs, and tons of worms that just get stolen as soon as i put thenm in the water and today tubes. starting to think that was the only fish in that lake that was not a sunfish pearch or rockbass.
  17. after snaping my mojobass on a snag and changing it for a shiman i picked up 2 rapala cheap combo`s for 8.99 on sale. spent the day with my 5 and 7 year old kids pulling rockbass out of brush piles, snagged tuged and pulled the hell out of these things , bent hooks a few snapped lines and a buch of fun and those cheap poles held up like champs. so much for the theory of you get what you pay for
  18. first thanks again for all the helpfull advice i have gotten from all my stupid questions so far, here are a few more. #1. the lake i fish in is real low right now there is a large part that is only 2-4 foot deep with islands starting to apear. i never go to that part of the lake.shoul i be? 2. are small pearch baitfish for smallmouth?if you put a hook and worn in the water it gets swarmed by pearch, tonight i tiik my son out in the canoe and he got like 12 of them and when i reel in a spinner bait there was a bunch chaising it. 3. how long do you guys fish one spot before you give up or move on? the last few weeks have been slow and i fing myself giving up on a certain bait or spot. thanks again, i depend on you guys for all the know how i can get.
  19. just got back from the fishing store. once bitten twice shy. after a little hasle i changed it for a shimano clairus. 6.6 mediam fast action. hope this one last longer that 2 weeks
  20. first off. i am real new to this so what to do and not to do i am pretty clueless. if you get a snag what is the best thing to do? cut the line and count your losses? lthe place i got the rod is usually real good so i think they will just exchange it.
  21. just got this mojobass rod 2 weeks ago, on my second time using it tonight i hit a little snag gave it a pop, not even a big pop, and the tip snaped off aboit 1.5 inches from the tip. i must say i was p/$ed off. i had my ugly stick for over 20 years and it is still going strong and this pos snapes almost right away. i am going to take it back tomorrow and see how it goes.
  22. i dont have much line experiance but i whent from spider wire mono 10 to nanofil 8 and it cast way further with nanofil.
  23. after years of wanting one i finally got a 15.5 canoe for the family, i get up at 5 on sat and sun and hit the lake for 3 or 4 hours of much needed alone fishing time then i take the family out in the afternoon, just got a minn kota at a yardsale for 50$ also. i love it , i could spend days on that thing. one of the best things after my motorcycle i have purchased in a long time.
  24. the small lake is in cowansville quebec, it is small enuff that you cannot use a gas motar maybe a few miles across., it is not fished hard at all rarely more than 4 people on it at a time. because we are surounded by big lakes. it is surounded by trees and a few houses, not sure how deep, i know it has some pretty deep areas but it has allot of shalow areas as well. hope that helps
