  1. So far not so good... the 4 coil doesn't cast worth a d**n, or at least I think it's because I got the 4 coil. If i used my heaviest lures I could get it to cast decent, but anything even slightly lightweight and it went nowhere. Pretty dissapointed, might just return this thing. Will be practicing for a bit. It's dissapointing, because the thing feels so high quality.
  2. That's good to hear... what do you usually throw with it? I love the idea of the slingshot method for when I'm out on a kayak. A pond i usually fish is lined with bushes all around the edge hanging over the water, very difficult to get to from where i sit in my kayak. Should be great with the emmrod. Do you have any different tips? I'm getting the 4 coil, but I want to see how well the other coils cast.
  3. Well guys all sorts of different opinions, but ultimately I went with the veritas. Really appreciate all the help! I'll be keeping an eye on the other suggestions in here as in a few months I may consider buying another good rod.
  4. I ordered mine I'm gonna give it a shot... they have a satisfaction guarantee. I've read all different reports. some say it casts great if you use it right, others say it can't cast more than 20 feet. I'll give it some tries and if not I'll send it back. Either way I'll report back with some impressions and pics. Anybody who has one... have you tried different coils? I went with 4 which I'm nervous about for lighter baits.
  5. I think it can be used for some recreational situations, particularly kayak fishing on a budget. Much easier to make accurate casts and a lot more convenient.
  6. Lots of great stuff in here guys thanks a lot. Specifically about the veritas... any truth to the guides being a little fragile? The majority of the complaints are about the guides falling out.
  7. At 100 dollars can I get what I'm looking for? I'm looking for a solid rod with good casting distance and decent enough sensitivity. I was thinking of going after the abu veritas, but have read some mixed reviews. Also I don't know if I should buy at walmart, or at dick's, or maybe online. Some say ***, others say ebay. Any suggestions?
  8. Welp just ordered one... christmas present anyways, hopefully it works out.
  9. What about the rugged flex and the sensitivity? Read a few sites that you can feel everything it's touching with the right setup. edit- also hows the casting distance? Sorry for all the questions, how many coils should I get? I look to use this rod mostly as a secondary rod, but I also do a ton of kayak fishing.
  10. Has anyone ever had a chance to try an emmrod? These seem great for pond fishing and light tackle fishing. I fish a lot of more difficult to reach ponds from shore with very tight casting room. It seems they would also be really easy to grab and use for a quick fishing trip. What's the word on them?
  11. Hmm I'll have to try that. Tried some jerk baits really slow today as per other recommendations. Thing that sucks about jigs around here is all the pounds are just littlered with crap on the bottom, can't do much but come up filled with muck.
  12. That would be nice. I know they're tools, but I like keeping my things pristine, just an OCD thing.
  13. What do you guys think of spinnerbaits fished really slow?
  14. That's what I've been hearing a lot of... hmmm I guess I'll go for the Gen 2 then. Anyway to prevent the issues with the boat rash?
