  1. Norman Fat Boy sounds like what you're looking for.
  2. I just roll the bag up.
  3. Intersting topic. I've wondered if all the colors made a difference. I'm a beginning jig guy so I'm on the right track with the colors I'm using. It almost seems like all the other colors out is maybe for us than for the fish.
  4. If I had to pick one KVD 1.5 sexy shad.
  5. Size 4 owner circle hooks, straight tail roboworms, drop shot weights plus an little instruction thing telling you to re thread your tag end through the eye of the hook so the hook is facing up and telling you to let the bass take the bait and slowly start reeling to get it hooked.
  6. I've caught bass on square bills, drop shots, spinnerbaits, swim jigs, and senkos. I wouldn't limit yourself to just one or two.
  7. Trying Sufix Elite and I've got say that I'm really digging it. Thanks for the suggestions and saving me a lot of money!
  8. He could have I couldn't see it but I set, felt that familiar feeling of a hooked bass, reeled him in then he vanished. Determined to land my first one though.
  9. I love the hunt. The thrill of being able to trick a bass into eating something that isn't real. Also it's one of the purest things in this crazy world. There's no ulterior motive, NSA spying, etc. it's just me and the fish and how I go about catching them. I also enjoy the camaraderie amongst fellow fisherman that share a similar passion for bass fishing or fishing in general. There's always something new to learn or techniques to share and pass along. Plus the stories that I hear and tell makes it all the more fun.
  10. Size 4 Owner mutu circle hooks for dropshotting.
  11. Been playing since the 80s. Like and appreciate all kinds of guitarists but really dig Slash, Warren dimartini, SRV, Steve Jones (sex pistols), satch...just to name a few.
  12. Thanks for that. I don't know if the bass is nipping at it when I feel that or if it's actually in his mouth.
  13. Does anyone use jigs from ***? Intersting concept. I think my jig rolled over and probably skin hooked it. He also has his technique for setting which involves physics and using the line as a whip. Interesting stuff
  14. Hey guys when you feel a tap or tap tap I imagine that's the bass crushing the bait but I could be wrong. I'm just learning this bit and went out today and got that tap tap and didn't quite know when to set. I left it for a little and then set the hook. To my surprise I had one hooked to then lose it on its way in. Weird experience
  15. Are you sure you wanna be throwing a spinner in thick weeds? I would imagine that the weeds would get constantly hung up on the hook.
  16. I'm with Sam if he's a regular I'd get to know him. Once you get to know him a little better it'll be easier to voice your concern without sounding like the game warden. Plus you'll be able to see if he's taking in fish that aren't legal.
  17. The only use my thumb at the end of the cast right before it hits the water. Except if I want the bait to stop at a certain distance.
  18. Ok thanks guys for your responses.
  19. For the ones that use this trailer are you guys threading the bait on the hook or just hooking it somewhere along the body?
  20. Definitely El Salto in Mexico.
  21. Man nice! Clear water what test line were you using?
  22. Abu Garcia Revo SX. I think it's like $130 or so on ebay new. Very light, powerful (20lbs of drag i think), casts great and very smooth. Good overall workhorse. This is my first BC reel and it took some time to just learn how to cast one in general. Some on here say it's not all too user friendly and that might be true I can't really say since I've never used other brand reels but it only really took me about a solid month to really get the hang of it.
  23. I'd try a circle hook. Size 4 or maybe a little smaller. If you've never used a circle hook there's lots of good videos that explain how they work. The one you lost that was casted out a ways sounds like a good time to use one. When you feel your rod start to load start reeling in. There's no real need to set the hook. The circle hook does all the work for you. Once the hook is lodged you're good. Fish on!
  24. I'd be interested in making my own. I've got a design idea for them that I'm going to play around with. I'm going to play around with skirt colors also.I have a strong feeling grub trailers will be big.
  25. I have the 7' MH and have had mine for about six months now and never had an issue. I fish almost every day and during the summer months I would take it out saltwater fishing for calico bass almost weekly. Like CWB, I got mine on eBay for $79 no tax and free shipping. Great rod for the price. I find it to be extremely sensitive with plenty of backbone.
