Bass In The Grass
All the lakes in my area are small natural lakes, and the only form of cover besides docks is vegetation. All the lakes are ringed by weeds, with many different types including milfoil, hydrilla, cabbage, lilly pads, arrowheads, and reeds. How do I know which type of vegetation to fish on any given day? I have tried all the different kinds and in different depths, but I usually have the best success on the deep weed edge of the milfoil, in 8-15 feet. Are there certain days when fishing a different type of vegetation would be more effective?

Over Fished Pond?
Fish areas they don't focus on and fish baits they don't use. Give the fish something they're not used to. If this pond is fairly shallow, a weightless Zoom Centipede will almost always catch fish.

When Nobody's Biting
I go finesse and I just don't leave until I catch something. It could take all day, but I always end up catching something. I'll stay on the water as long as I have to until I figure them out. Never give up!

Best Fishing State
You can find quality fishing pretty much anywhere you go, you just have to look around. It really depends on what style of fishing you like. I have fished in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Colorado and they all have great fishing. I currently fish Michigan and Northern Indiana which has a wide variety of fishing. There is great fishing around here for many species including largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, pike, musky, steelhead, trout, and panfish. There are many small natural lakes around here and also some rivers and creeks, but the main attraction here is Lake Michigan.

Ice Fishing???
Unfortunately my lakes are covered in ice for 4 months every year so I have come to love ice fishing. As others have said, proper clothing is very important. A portable shanty is nice, but it isn't a necessity. I actually use my hunting blind instead of a shanty and it works just fine. I just bought a flasher a few years ago and it makes a world of difference. You can find a basic one for under $200 if you look around on Ebay. The same spots you fish in the summer will hold fish but deep structure is probably the best thing to look for. Channels and bays are also great areas.
