I am in the market for a tow Vehicle... not sure what brand I want. What do you use, and are you happy with it? I will be buying used and reliability as the top of the list.

When I feel a Tap Tap I give it a quick sec, they often hit the claws before eating the jig. How fast you set the hook just depends on what you feel or see...

going to rig up a jig with some pork tomorrow and see how it goes. water temp is around 80...

I have only used pork trailer in cooler water (59 and under). does anyone use it in the summer?

I use xcite raptor tail chunk and love them; however, almost every time I get a bite one or both claws come off. I go throw a pack a day(if the jig bite is on.) Looking for a alternative trailer that still has floating pinchers.

thanks for the help everyone... went back out today and was able identify weeds, hard bottom, and i think I sawn a school of bait fish. still not arches.

yes it helped some but still did not mark any fish. going to try and got out today and play with the sensitivity more.

Just got a Humminbird 718 and trying to get it set up. I can not get it to mark fish unless I turn on fish Id (12 hours of fishing and not one arch). I am also having a hard time telling the hardness of structure... everything seems to be the same. wanted to know if any has the unit and could help.

I wanted to start making jigs; however, after reading many past post on this topic I've decided to buy some unpainted heads to see how it goes 1st. looking for suggestion on an site to get them from or a member that that makes jigs.

thanks for the info.. went out on Tuesday and got three bits but only boated one. it was pretty cool fighting them throw the mats. I have a feeling i will be spending more time in the thick stuff this year.

I normally fished the outside edge of thick pads or the top. However, the pads have not completely grown in yet and this spring I've been swimming a jig and fluke throw them with success. As we get closer to summer the vegetation is getting pretty thick, making it harder to fish. I alway watched and read about punching pads but for some reason I've always felt like its a west/south technique. just not sure if the the heavy weights, and punching skirts are worth the investment.

Portage lakes is one of the best lakes in the state for LM and i go milton for smallies.

Just got a new boat, well new to me. its was hard enough waiting until spring, now i feel like i may go crazy lol. I have been just sitting in it and standing on the deck dreaming of the 1st day on the water.

Lol I am not as familiar with the BASS guys. I fish the flw College events so I follow that trail more, but we can play either one.
