  1. Yeah I tried to fish there Friday night, but it was pretty tough with the water so high, and pretty d**n impossible to get anywhere besides the spillway. I had gone before the meramec had spilled over and was able to get about 20 ft in front of those trees. My best luck has been with Senkos, and big fat T-rigged creature baits.
  2. In my experience, I've only seen dinks come out of Fabick. Thats also the big lake, never tried the smaller one. I usually have luck with a pumpkinseed trigged worm or a smoke grub. The bass in my pic came outta Unger. Tough lake to fish, but there are big ones in there.
  3. Download Handbrake and reformat the video.
  4. I use a 6' St Croix Premier Medium with a Shimano Stradic CI4. I actually was using braid yesterday. It was the first time using cranks too so i didnt know what to expect. I guess I learn really quick...haha. Yeah i think this is your issue, not neccesarily the hooks. You can't use high power gear with lower wire hooks. Crankbaits need some play in your set up, avoid superman hooksets and make sure you have a little "play in the retrieve.
  5. Walk up and down that shoreline and cast that senko around those docks and boats and let it sink to the bottom. If its a big enough fish you probably won't feel the "tap tap tap" of a little fish. The line will just feel heavy or start moving. Reel in the slack and do a strong sweeping hookset. That should get you a fish before long. Or just cast that crankbait along those docks as well. Reel it in an bang it into the dock supports, or do an erratic stop and go retrieve.
  6. I would also reccomend the SilverMax. I did some research before purchasing it, and many of the reviews I read recommended it over the ProMax. I have one of them on a Abu Vendetta rod, and One on a Skeet Reese spinnerbait/worm rod. I have zero complaints about either. (I only wish I had one more). I think the only real difference between the Pro andSilver is the gear ratio Pro is 7.1 Silver is 6.4 I would just buy the reel though and not the combos. The rod they give you isn't anything to write home about. For the price they are not gonna break the bank and you get a pretty solid reel. You can get 2-3 of them for the price of 1 really nice reel. Or, if your replace one reel every 3-5 years that will still be 9-15 years before you break even with a high end model. If your performing regular maintenance/repairs to them I'm sure you can get them to last forever. If you want spinning gear I would go with the Pflueger president series. Nice reel at a nice price.
  7. Just seems like a conflict of interest. What seems like an innocent post is really just a advertisement for someone who sponsors you. Thats all my point was about.
  8. Says the man sponsored by Wiley X?
  9. Yeah I was going to say, if you have too much stuff to carry, you probably have too much stuff. I always think its good to have like a "emergency" box with some of your favorite terminal tackle, favorite lures and a bag with my favorite plastics. Basically something that you know you can catch a fish with one thing out of that box. Then if you have more room, put everything else you think you might use based on the conditions.
  10. After the cost of shipping, it's really not a deal...
  11. Nice work Tim! You're definitely representing St. Louis well in that pic.
  12. Yeah those sound like carp, especially if they were hanging out together.
  13. To really answer your question... if the senko with the hook inside is sitting in the mouth of the bass, when your rip the lure out during the hookset the force pulls the worm out of the mouth , but the hook obviously stays there. The senko has nothing really stopping it so the force continues to pull it up the line, and then shook off fairly easily.
  14. I like to make deep fried fish tacos. Take your filets and coat them in a mixture of flour and taco seasoning. Dip them in an eggwash and them coat them with a Panko bread crumb and Taco seasoning mixture. Serve on torillas with cheese and either salsa or jalapeno cream sauce. Salsa 2 large tomatoes 1 onion 1 jalapeno 1 juice of a lime 2-3 cloves garlic cilantro - to taste (some people don't like it) salt to taste Chop or blend all ingredients in the food processor. Salt to taste. Also add however much jalapeno you like for spicyness. Jalapeno Cream 1 Cup Sour Cream 1 jalapeno - charred over flame 2 cloves garlic salt and pepper to taste 1 tsp chili powder 1 tsp cumin remove blackened skin from jalapeno, and finely dice. Mince garlic. mix all ingredients together.
  15. Yeah, I think the best part of the senko is that they usually take it and start swimming off with it so you can feel them take the line. You can also keep your finger on the line and usually feel the "pop" of a big one sucking it in.
  16. I'm in Crestwood. I'm always down to fish on the weekend as long as I have some free time.
  17. What were you fishing with?
