also, the reason I think cloudy days are better is because Bass hide out of the rang of UV light, so on a cloudy day the UV light does not penetrate the water as deep and make the shadow area where bass hide from UV light much larger. this makes the strike zone larger and the likely hood of my bait fall in that zone higher, also if the night before was cloudy, this may have hid the moon light making for a hunger bass with a larger strike zone.

Here is a way I keep it simple, for bass to eat at night they need the light of the moon to see, so if there is a nice full moon at night they have been eating all night so they next day they are not as hungry. If its a new moon with no moonlight for bass to see then they wake up hungry. I think a cloudy morning or evening after a new moon. If I was to plan a trip and had my pick of days, I look into the days after a new moon. I check it out. Moon Phase is not the only factor so I wouldn't cancel a trip because of it. some people as look at solunar table barometric pressure, but I think that's less of a factor. TY park has boat rental, you might want to fish off boat. Fish the side the waves are hitting, next to the most cover. There are peacock bass there, so a walk the dog, top lure or chug bug color Naturistic Perch will work, they like the darkside and orange bottoms, If they are not hitting uptop, toss a senko worm wacky style weightless if its not to windy. watermelon with flake or black with red flake, if its windy Texas rig the Sinko with a small weight by the hook or 10" up the line.

I was reading a wide spool is better for casting. My baitcaster doesnt do well with weightless plastics and the bass on my lake are hitting them hard. If the decaying vegetation was just move from the bottom to the top, no additional was added to the mix then it shouldn't be too bad. If you don’t smell a rotten egg type smell, the pond will return to normal in time. In the short term, the mix up might have depleted some of the dissolved O2. You might want to put a small fountain to help aerate the water. The most common reason bass would leave or not bit with this type of cover lack of O2 or too much N.

Fish do not like decaying vegetation because it consumes to much oxygen and can produce higher nitrogen levels. If it starts to smell bad it could lead to a fish kill. if its a closed pond, and the decaying vegetation is covering over 1/4 the cover, I'd assume some fish loss. If the pond was on my land, I'd get a 1 or 2 hp pump and run it through some 5 gallon bucks full of bio beads or plastic pot scrubbers to cycle the nitrogen and shoot the water back into the pond waterfall or fountain style to oxygenate water. if the water was fresh, the bass would love the cover.
