  1. Hey guys, just wondering if any of you use a fluid bed for your powder paints....If so, does it help a lot more than not having one? I have another post on here about the paint dripping off while curing it. I was wondering if the paint coating on the jig head may be too thick. Supposedly a fluid bed is supposed to take care of that. Thanks!
  2. Ok, I am not an expert by any means....but I have found the spray enamel paint works pretty well for painting lures. Pretty much just the outdoor spray paint that you can find at Walmart. Sometimes the only problem is finding the right color. You might could try some hobby stores if you are wanting a better variety of colors. Hope this helps out.
  3. Ok guys, I have been trying different paints for my jigs and have a question. Recently I bought some of the powder paint to dip my jigs in. It seemed to do very well as far as covering the jig head and having a nice finish. However, the paint container says to heat is for a while once it dries to cure the paint. It said to put the heat on 350 degrees and bake for about 20 minutes. Well, I tried this and the paint started melting all inside the oven. Has anyone else had this problem....or know what I might have done wrong..Thanks in advance!!
  4. I saw a 1996 model hydrasport that looked like a pretty good deal. It has a 115 on it, and is about a 17 foot boat. What I am wondering, is that some of the older hydrasport boats had some transom problems. Do any of you know much about the 96 models...if so how is the quality? Thanks guys!!
  5. Also, thanks for the help guys!!
  6. Yeah, you are right on the mold. It is the poison mold that I have. I supposed you could probably file down the ridges a little on the jighead as well, and it may slide on better.
  7. Hey guys, I got a quick question...I was making some 1 oz jigs last night and had problems putting on the skirts. The jig has two notches so you can attatch a rattle as well. It was very difficult to get the skirt up on the jig. Once I got the skirt where I wanted it, some of the pieces of the skirt were a little messed up from the pressure I was putting on it to slide it onto the jig. Is there an easier way to do this...or are there bigger skirts for a jig this size? Thanks!!
  8. Went to look at the boat and like I said...the carpet does need replaced, but the transom is solid and the bottom side of the boat is in excellent shape. All the electronics and gauges work as well. Only thing I could find wrong is the carpet...and that it's not out on the lake! He is gonna let me take it out thursday evening for a test drive....If everything turns out ok and I get it, is it hard to replace the carpet? Or is it better to have carpet professioally done?
  9. an opinion about a boat I am looking at. I am supposed to go look at it this week, but a guy I used to go to church with is selling his boat due to medical reasons. It is a 1987 stratos 18' with a 1986 150 hp pushing it. He just put 3 new batteries, has a evinrude trolling motor, depth finders, etc. He said other than a few worn spots in the carpet, it is in great shape. He is asking $2500, but said he would negotiate. If I could get it for around $2000 is that a decent deal? He has owned it since 1989, and only thing he has done to engine is a water pump. Thanks guys!

  14. Hey guys, I really appreciate all the information. I plan to do a lot of research before I actually buy one. I just know it never hurts to get others opinions on stuff especially since many of you have a boat already. It may be that a used boat would give me more for my money, I will definitely weigh all my options....again Thanks!
  15. Ok, I have been wanting a bass boat for some time now, but I have came to the conclusion that I can't wait much longer. So now I need to find out what kind of boat I want. I want to stick with something in the 17 to 18 ft. range, but other than that I am a little overwhelmed. My greatest fear is buying a boat and having the engine die on me. I know boat motors are the most expensive thing on a bass boat. I was wondering if it would be better to buy a new boat or a good used one. I know a new boat would have a warranty and such, and a used one would be just as is for the most part. However, in my price range, I would only be able to afford a 17 or 18 foot nitro with about a 90 hp engine on it if I were to buy new. That would be good warranty wise, but I know you can get a better value buying a used boat with a bigger engine, better quality, and already customized.... I would really appreciate any opinions you guys could give me on this. Thanks in advance!!!
