  1. @IcatchDinks, if you hadn't been wearing that awful t-shirt, I'm guessing you would have landed your first DD. I'm hoping @gimruis will come along shortly and issue you a fashion citation.
  2. @Bluebasser86: More of your thick, long fish and under tough conditions. I worry about you guys and your temps. Brutal. Plus, you've had your long-standing drought.
  3. @Alex from GA: What most people call swamps, Mainers call bogs. So, it's water that's a foot to six feet deep with a lot of weeds. Usually the bottom two feet is grass that's my bane, for the bass dive into it and frequently free themselves.
  4. I like her excitement when she boats a big gal AND her sadness and frustration when she loses one. I feel like she does. I'm all in when I win and all in when I lose.
  5. Whoa! I also love the water photos and that release. The way she turned so suddenly was wicked cool. @Pat Brown: You're one of the BR fishermen that I'd love to sit beside for a few hours to just watch you fish. I know I'd leave your boat a better fisher.
  6. Thanks for the report. It's tempting to only share those fishing trips where we boat big bass and those fishing reports are fun for sure, but I also appreciate the fishing reports where the bass bested us too. Kristine Fischer is one of my favorite YouTube fishers. She wins lots of tournaments and she loses LOTS of bass, which she always shows. I feel less alone when I see her lose so many big bass. So, when I go out and catch one bass, I share those near skunks too.
  7. @Capt Steve: Yours isn't a rant at all. It was informative. So, thanks. I cringe when I see ^this.^ Have they never watched a fishing video?
  8. @Dominat0r: That's a lotta fishing outfits and lures! It's cool that you know how to work all those lures. @thediscochef: When I was a kid, the two Twilight episodes that scared me the most were the one with Billy Mumy as the all-powerful child and the one where the world grew hotter and hotter and the young woman in her apartment just wanted to survive a few more days.
  9. I think about the bass boaters, so high and dry, and I whimper. Then I think about the wakes from the jet skis and pontoon boats and I say, "Whew!"
  10. Bob, you're on fire today. ^Another^ great post. Thanks for letting us sit in that boat with you and your dad.
  11. Heck, yeah, it was! Those 18" - 19" bass can kickstart a stopped heart. When you hook one, be sure to yell, "CLEAR!"
  12. ^This^ is cussing. You better hope a mod doesn't see it and delete it.
  13. Great post.
  14. Hi, Bucks, Bass, and Bourbon. I was raised in Columbus and graduated from Ohio State, as did my siblings, parents, and grandparents. If you cut my right arm, I bleed scarlet. If you cut my left arm, I bleed gray. My first thought is that we can't be cyber-pals. However, a mutual love of bass conquers all, so welcome!
  15. You paid for a guide, but he gave you a boat ride. A boat ride is worth about 20 bucks.
  16. My net is big and heavy and I fish solo, so I've got the fighting bass in one hand, weeds everywhere, and the net in the other. I feel lucky every, SINGLE time I get a big bass in the net. Many times, a five-pound bass comes aboard with five pounds of weeds.
  17. It's a great question and I think the answer is yes. I fished a new pond last week and I caught thick pickerel and thick bass. Here's are three of them and some of the pickerel were thick enough that they fought like big bass:
  18. Heck, yeah, I eat! Launching at fourish a.m. and paddling makes me hungry and hankering, but because canoes are wet, I stick with Kind bars, which come sealed in plastic, and I try to eat them in three or four bites before they're as soggy as everything else. However, grilling some Johnsonville brats sounds mighty fine.
  19. Don't tempt the tortoise! I love the Mepps spinners.
  20. Good guess and YES! I also paddled Cincy to New Orleans and the Thames source-to-sea.
  21. You both are, @Woody B.
  22. YIKES! Are you okay?
  23. I paddled six miles this morning and I sure feel it. My biceps ache. You'd think that six wouldn't tucker me when my three longest paddling trips are over 2,000 miles, 1,400 miles, and 200 miles.
  24. @MIbassyaker: Mepps Black Fury! I so rarely know the lures you guys use that I'm thrilled when I recognize one.
