  1. These help me catch bass from my canoe because I always troll when paddling from one casting spot to the next casting spot: https://www.yakattack.us/omega-pro-rod-holder-with-track-mounted-locknload-mounting-system/ You have to buy the mounting plate too and I use two. I second a set of wheels. Something to consider is a carbon fiber canoe paddle. I have paddled thousands of miles in a kayak with a kayak paddle and and thousands of miles in a canoe with both a kayak paddle and canoe paddle. I have also caught thousands of bass, so I speak from experience when I suggest a canoe paddle, which is half the length of a kayak paddle and thus is much easier to stow when you're fishing. A carbon fiber is so light that it's less wear and tear on you.
  2. Yeah, they often comingle with bass. You'll catch a walleye, then a bass, then a walleye, then a bass, then.... They're also darker than southern walleye, being black and gold. And I'd only lip one if I wanted a leaky thumb.
  3. @Bazoo: If I remember correctly, you haven't traveled much, so you might not know that walleye and bass are reversed when it comes to north and south. I've seen the skiiiinnnny walleyes that you and @TnRiver46 catch. I've caught thousands of thick walleyes up north. Your bass grow bigger than ours on average, but our average walleyes are thicker than yours.
  4. I used to fish for smallies in northwestern Ontario for two-to-four weeks each year. I fished with six-pound mono and spinning reels. I'd land a couple 40" pike every year with those bass outfits when those pike hit my bass lures. Here's one: My point is that you just need a good drag to land a nice pike. They typically only run once.
  5. I'm guessing it was feisty like this:
  6. I can see considerable current in every photo but the first. Then I think about those brown bass fighting that current every dang day. Now I imagine you hooking those current-fighting bass in that current and I go...
  7. "Amazing day" is right!!! I don't know if I'm prouder of you or happier for you. Let me think...wait for it...wait for it...I know...I'll...
  8. All we can do is to catch the fish that swim in our waters.
  9. I like all those changes! I catch a lot of bass trolling between spots.
  10. @bp_fowler: I'd start with a set of wheels. I think I've seen you drag your canoe a few times. Once you're rolling your canoe instead of dragging it, you'll be able to reach even more remote ponds. I'd be cautious about adding too many accessories. Each one increases your load. Nah, not a bit dorky. You look happy and you're holding a fine bass, so it's a great pic.
  11. @bp_fowler: I'm so happy to see how many bass have come into your canoe.
  12. Those are beauties, GP! I wish I were brave enough to fish at night.
  13. No. I can catch fish, but not LOTS. Cool tip. Thanks.
  14. @MIbassyaker: You are smokin' hot!
  15. They are sweet bass. I was just joshing Jonny.
  16. I've told you several times that you really know how to live.
  17. @Jonny15678: Nice bass, but it looks like you caught them over the course of a few months, not a "few days."
  18. Caught about 50 this morning with a buddy. For once, I didn't count because we were chatting all morning, but right before we left the pond, we each caught one at the same time, so my buddy lifted those for one photo:
  19. That's what ended my musky fishing mania, Tim.
  20. @The Baron: You could have been skunked on that pretty pond and still scored just by paddling there.
  21. August was slow for me too. Our fishing is great right now, but I'm taking a break. Between fishing, gardening, and throwing toys for up to two hours a day for my pup, my right hand has weakened. So, I'm throwing toys with my left and staying off the water for a few days.
  22. @LrgmouthShad: WOW!!! I see what you mean about fishing at night.
