  1. Ditto. It must be related to metabolism.
  2. I am looking forward to spring fishing smallies using a new presentation: A skirtless chatterbait with a soft paddletail jerkbait, or scrounger with the same bait. Curious if this has been used, and which weights, style, etc have been productive. I have tried underspins and they seem to underproduce on my waters.
  3. I'm in. Maybe the ice will be melted by 4/15 NYS LMB 11lb 4oz NYS SMB 8lb 4oz Both records seem pretty safe
  4. Sidenote: On moonphase, the most important full moon is right before spawn. It signals the end of pre spawn for most fish, and your approach and techniques may need to change.
  5. I think about pressure and how it affects wind speed and direction. On big bodies of water, this is valuable information for boat control, which lends directly to success or not.
  6. Lake Champlain overcrowded during tournament season. I love throwing keepers back while a tourney fisherman is watching. I may even hold it up for them if it is a good one.
  7. I prefer the reaction style of pre spawn, but will : t rig, jig, drop shot, crank, jerk, wacky, frog, spook, pop, I love the challenge of finding them on various bodies of water, conditions and time of year. The type of fisherman is lucky. Lucky to be fortunate to be out there boating, eating donuts, telling jokes and occasionally catching one.
  8. I started around 6 or 7 on Schroon Lake NY during family vacations. More "serious" bass fishing began around 10yrs ago, with some intermittent other species.
  9. On the water is not the place to be distracted by gadgets....unless its a fishfinder!!
  10. Keitech shad impact in Ayu rigged weightless, weighted hook or DS.
  11. 4" Crazy legs chigger craw, green pumpkin, 1/4 oz Texas rigged
  12. I am jealous. My local lake has 12" of ice on it...
  13. I am looking to upgrade my electronics, while staying on a budget. Being new to chartplotting, down scan, etc, maybe some insight on the Lowrance or Humminbird units would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
  14. NY-$29.00 Resident $70.00 Non Resident!!!!
  15. Glen lake, Lake St. Catherine, Bomoseen, Hortonia all good. Bomo has the biggest fish I've found from this list.
  16. I've been hatched to fry
  17. VMC spinshot hooks
  18. Lake George will put smallies on beds at 65 degrees. 1/4 oz jigs dragged across the bed will get a strike from the male first, usually. Patience and persistence can eventually pick up the female. From ice out to spawn is my favorite time to target smallies. Sandy flats to 12 foot rocky drops hold fish here. Experiment with various jerkbaits, fluke style baits and med depth cranks...a reaction bite can lead to plenty of fish in a days time.
  19. I have been searching for one of these units and have only found a Lowrance Endura. The mixed reviews are cautioning. Any thoughts? http://www.cabelas.com/product/Lowrance-Endura-Safari-Marine-GPS/1090031.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dlowrance%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=lowrance&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
  20. I love the ds...once the water temps approach 70, it is time to go deep. "Deep" meaning 30, 40 50 fow...I hooked a SMB in 97 fow fall of 2011. 3" senkos, keitech swing impact, zoom finesse worms are some favorites. Looking forward to ds during pre spawn on Lake Champlain...could be interesting(after all, they have seen every spinnerbait known to man).
  21. Hey, Greetings from the tundra of upstate NY. Looking forward to some fishing chats.
