the truth is cjbs2003 some bass tournaments i fished last year had bags of 5 and 6 fish limits with weights of 20lb to almost 30lbs and numerous times. Thats a good bag on any lake there definately here just hard lake to figure out and alot of bait sometimes you can watch bait come up for a mile and graph schools football field long for real. The lake just doesn't get the credit it deserves in my opinion. I personally have caught fish like this and stripers are just awesome. I have caught over 400lbs of stripers in a single morning know lie. The problem is being consistent here it does really take alot of time and equipment but it can be a great place to catch big fish of all species. Even the locals here especially in bass fishing have all figured out certain times of year to show there strengths some guys good spring some summer and fall putting it all together is what frustrates people but I like to keep learning. The introduction of milfoil and other tipe of grass along with the elwives have really changed the ball game its been quite a number of years now but as a role of thumb thats what all game fish are keying on. If you stick to weed fishing for bass it will help but there are other patterens in carolina fishing and spoon fishing that alot of times will show you bigger fish. Hard bottoms are key and green weeds, sometimes with wood mixed in is awesome. One more note you find a color that works on one part of lake not necessarily going to be your best choice else where if even a choice at all.

not new to fishing raystown but new to this computer crap. Brett the point your talking about is on the right coming out of james creek on the main lake going south or up lake across from mile marker 14. I live here and can see water from my house. I was reading all these entrys and just wanted to say that this lake gets a bad rap about good fishing. I have to tell ya it is a hard lake to fish thats it. we have as much and as big of fish as anywhere. This lake requires time spent on the water for sure and there is days it will show you whats here and it is unreal for all kinds of fish not just bass. The fish here can go anywhere very shallow to very deep in all kinds of structure to none. One thing to always keep in mind here is it is like three little lakes in one and you can break it in 3rds down, middle, and up all having patterens and water differences even when it doesn't look like it. And for the fishing for bass in the 40 degree range can be very good sometimes i would have thrown a spoonbill or staysee pulled it down then left it sit while I ate a sandwich lol produces huge fish alot of times try it but colors can be critical.
