If it gets to a certain point where you just can't catch anything, I'd suggest talking to the locals. The past 2 years I've dedicated my fishing time to learn new techniques, I'll use them for 2-3 sometimes 4 months to make sure I'm completely comfortable with it. I would start off with creature baits right now like zoom baby brush hogs in any kind of watermelon color, or get some 4in senkos, as for line i would try either a fluorocarbon or monofilament line thats at least 10lbs, 20lb max.
