in lakes..... points with rocky drop offs are where i target, especially if the points facing to the windy side of the lake smallies are oxygen lovers find the good o2 in the lake find smallies... just my observation

dont be afraid of tossing bigger baits especially 2-4 weeks after spawn and during fall.

yea once the water starts hitting about 55 degrees the males start into the shallows and start making beds in 3-12 ft or deeper .... if you wanna find the good spawn spots just hit your lake and find anywhere that has rocks and sand/gravel ....... find rocks in the size you would imagine would be easy for a fish to move....... i have watched a couple of smallies make nests its a trip to just sit their and watch em do their thing.. from 55-60ish degrees is when they will be sitting on nests and if you fish large bodys of water they will spawn earyier in the spots that are shallower and get the longist sun exposure ...... but always look for rocky gravel bottoms.if you are looking for info hit the web i found all kinds of info on this fish but it will take some time to find all that you are looking for.

i catch alotta smallies drop shot...... but thats usally when they are spawning. at my lake after spawn i hit em on a football jig head with a reacton innovations sweet beaver 4.20. i hear alotta talk about having to down size to catch em' i use the same techniques as large mouths just in rockier points with drop offs and the points usually are on the windy side of the lake. cant wait for the smallie spawn this year ima take a week off of work and slay it.

i think bass are just wired to hit certian baits regardless of how much they have the oppertunity to see em...... craws,lizards....ect.... some times when jigs with craw trailers dont work i just use a jig head ( football ) and a craw trailer some times they dont like the skirt.

i would like to see pros come and fish my local lake..... ( lake cachuma ) so cal. would always wonder what would happen if pros hit my lake cause im tellin ya when a lake is set up like cachuma it can be really hard to fish..... seems like one of those lakes that are un-learnable...

a few more bucks and id be buying a new cumara jig rod 6' 8" heavy x-fast ... me sooooooo hungry for that rod but im a die hard shimano fan. but the smart decision for that cash would be to stock up on fresh baits and terminal takle to make it through the season with out buying more stuff ......... like thats even possable..
