  1. I managed to break two of my fathers St. Croix rods that he had for 10+ years in a single outing.... They were replaced using the gold service. Now the story... Everyone here in South Dakota fishes for walleye. I don't fish for walleye because it bores me. We were fishing and picking up a few here and there, but it was pretty slow. My father was using two rods and I was just using one because I like to actually feel them bite. Well, he convince me to use one of his rods and get another jig down. I set the rod down and wait... Oooooh a bite... go to grab it quickly and snap. The rod caught in the cleat of the boat and I pulled it up and snapped it. Felt terrible, but figured it was the cost of having a child. Until, I did it again the same exact way, same exact spot. Now I felt terrible and stupid. Ended up paying to get them both replaced and now he has two new rods that he will hopefully have for the next 10 years. I won't touch them.
  2. I'm still learning...
  3. Probably this bass.... Didn't have a tape or a scale, but it was a monster for up here... But, this is probably my biggest fish...
  4. You did just email them Friday... I've broken a lot of the bills off like others. I personally wouldn't ever expect a bait company to replace a lure that developed a problem. The problems could easily have been caused by the user. Couldn't count how many times I've bounced a crankbait off rocks on shore casting onto rip-rap.
  5. Been using baitcasters essentially my whole life and have never seen the trick in the video... Might come in handy so thanks. I was catfishing the other day with a baitcaster that has bait clicker.... forgot to engage the reel when I went to set the hook. Probably the most impressive backlash ever.
  6. Caught a few nice bass on these beds the other morning. This lake has never been this clear that I can remember. Bass don't appear to be bedding yet. The fish I caught were on Pop-R's cast from a long distance. Gills would often be biting at the little tail then bam!
  7. I have a decent (and getting better) smallmouth lake that is an hour and a half away.... Fairly long haul, but the only place I can go catch smallies... I will not tell people about this lake. It literally has parking for 6 rigs and thats only if the people park in a logical manner. If I were to catch what I thought was a record, I'd take a pic and send it on it's way. Couldn't care less about getting a record. Also, this literally is happening in my state. A new state smallmouth record was caught on a lake last year that was relatively unheard of... Sounds like there are about 4 times as many anglers every weekend. Also again, I could never kill a giant bass. Just couldn't do it. I've vowed to kill every walleye since most of the anglers I know will keep any bass they catch, but I still let anything over 20" go.
