I have a dime size gouge in the side of my nitro. I am going to buy the West Marine Rx Epoxy repair kit and red tint to match the boat. Luckily its in a spot that is not easily seen but would it be dumb to put some metallic flake in the epoxy just to make it less noticeable once its repaired? Didnt know if doing that would compromise the expoxy setting up the way it should?

The carpet is laid over my current foot pedal recess tray. I wasn't sure if I needed to pull the carpet up to remove the current tray and cut the hole for the new one?

I am upgrading from a Motorguide Pro Series 75 to a Motorguide Tour Pro. Was wondering if there is a huge difference in foot pedal size? I have a foot pedal recess already in my boat that came from the factory. Its carpeted over so if I have to enlarge the recess I'm going to have to pull up tge carpet. Never done that and didn't know how big of a deal it is.

I've been looking at upgrading my trolling motor. Was curious, I currently have sonar, down imaging, and side imaging on my depth finder at tge bow right now. The built in sonar in tge new Motorguide Tour pros does not do side imaging correct? And if it does now then there's technically no point in spending the extra money on that one in my situation right? I just want to make sure because this will be my first TM upgrade ever and pricey so want to be sure what I'm getting. Thanks!

Has anyone mounted a 3 in 1 active imaging lowrance transducer to their trolling motor and if so what is the best brand of mount you guys have used? Saw RMP has a kit to mount it but wasnt sure if there was anything better out there or not. Thanks!

I'd say its 4 years old, cant actually remember? There's nothing wrong with it other than sometimes it seems like it doesnt find bottom. I turn it off and back on and usually fixes it. Just would like a bigger one at the front. Did you call lowrance about the upgrade?

I have a chirp 7 at the front of my boat. Thinking of upgrading. Was wondering what the main differences were between the Hook Reveal 9 and the Elite 9 TI? Is the Elite 9 TI worth the extra money? Thanks!

I have a nitro z6. 17'6 length. I have a plain jane 24V motorguide on it right now. I've been looking at the xi5 and the new Tour Pro with the GPS anchor. I know the xi5 is alot cheaper but I was wondering what would I be giving up if I were to buy it over the new Tour Pro? I fish relatively small waters here in central Illinois. Anywhere from 100 acres to 4000. I dont go every weekend now that I have a 3 month old daughter. Should I save the money and go for the Tour Pro or would the xi5 be enough in my situation? Thanks for any advice and help??

Just wondering what everyone's favorite silent crankbaits are? I have very few silent ones and am looking at stocking up on some.

Just wondering when you guys use a bait such as a Zoom Super Chunk as a jig trailer or a craw type such as a Rage craw or chigger craw as a jig trailer? I almost always use a craw type soft plastic such as the rage craw for a jig trailer and never a chunk. I do have some Zoom Super Chunks that I keep in the boat but I just want to know the time that you guys think its best to use a chunk over a craw plastic. Thanks!

I was wanting to order some Boca bearings from tackle warehouse to upgrade a couple reels. I have never ordered them before or upgraded any of my bearings. I noticed that there are 4 selections under the ABEC 5 bearings. Wondering why? do I have to order a specific one for a specific reel or will any of them work fine with any reels? I mainly have Lews and Abu Garcia reels besides one Daiwa. Thanks for the help!

Ok sounds good. I'm storing everything in our basement so everything oughta stay cool down there. Haha we wrap up alot of money into these lures, I just hate to see them waste away but I feel better about it now

Here in Illinois its getting closer to the end and about time to get tackle and the boat put up. I was wondering if there is anything you guys do to try and keep your plastics fresh all winter? I store all my soft plastics in tackle boxes out of the bags. I just don't want next year to come around and I open my boxes to find them far from effective. Or am I just worrying too much?

Yeah the one decent fish I caught today was next to a laydown. Came on a 1/4oz Texas rigged zoom super hog. May up size to 3/8 weight tomorrow. The lake has alot of laydowns and vegetation. Some docks but not a ton. Got a spinnerbait with the skirt taken off and a fluke rigged on it ready. Figured might be something different that they haven't seen much

I just wanted to see what your guys strategies were on these types of days? I have a local tournament tomorrow and the weather forecast is calling for Sunny, 90 degrees with wind gusts only reaching 7 or 8 mph tomorrow. I fished the lake today with almost the exact conditions and the water temp was 84 degrees. Caught 3 small ones but no other luck. I know the fish are skittish and you have to have a very natural presentation on these days. I try to scale down my texas rigs a little and slow down my retrieve. Any other things you guys do that seems to really help you out?

I was just curious as to what if any difference there is between the jika rig and a wobble head jig head? I use the wobble head but have heard more of the jika rig lately. To me they seem to be the same rig just different components. Essentially its just a weight that allows the hook to move freely. Just want your opinions. Thanks!

I recently just started logging my sonar on my HDS 7. When I upload it to my insight genesis program on my computer I can see the contour lines of what I logged but when I try to switch to view bottom composition or vegetation it won't do anything. Am I missing something or is my computer just not working? Thanks for the help!

Hey guys i bought a HDS 7 gen 2 this winter and will be installing it here soon. I was just wondering what your guys take was on the Insight mapping that comes with it? I've never heard much, all the pros seem to use navionics but $100 to $200 is something i rather not spend if Insight is good enough. Just looking for your opinions on it. And any tips or tricks to installing the HDS 7 in a nitro Z6. Thanks!

Yeah the only thing i have used the Real Magic for is cleaning my rod and rod guides. I have never used the ardent line butter and will take your advice. I use the ardent oil and reel butter for when i do my winter maintenance on my reels but have been considering changing to the Quantum hot sauce and grease.

Just wanting guy opinions on line conditioner. Do you guys use it a if so do you feel like it really makes a difference? Ive got a bottle of KVD line conditioner and also the Real Magic. Have never used the Real Magic on my line yet. Whats your guys thoughts?

my boat does have a jackplate. believe ill mount the lss on it for sure

I do remember reading in the installation manual that you can mount it to the jackplate and yes i do have one. Thats probably what im going to do. And doesnt the actually transducer that comes with the HDS 7 have to be mounted within so many inches of the LSS transducer for downscan overlay??

i was talking about sealant for the screws that mount the transducer on the back of the boat. haha i hate the thought of put screws into the hull.

I just bought a HDS 7 Gen 2 with structure scan from tackle warehouse this winter. Was thinking of installing it on my nitro z6 myself. I have no experience installing fishing electronics at all. I did go to school for electrician so i have experience with wiring in general. Just was wondering if any of guys have done one like this and if you think its easy enough for a guy like me to correctly install this or be better off paying a professional to do it? I am more than likely going to RAM mount the unit at the console and was thinking of mounting the structure scan module in the rod locker right in front of my console. The only part i hate is drilling into my boat. I just worry but i know to get a high grade below water line sealant. Thanks for any help and opinions guys!
