Using Trokar flippin hook. Thanks for the help

I was punching mats yesterday, and on the fish that just swam away with the bait, I'd miss them about every time. I was setting the hook like any other punching fish. Wondering if I should have not ripped as hard, just reel to stick it in it's mouth or what. Would appreciate any help.

Just put new line on my Revo SX spinning reel, and the line just jumps off, and is hard to manage. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Wow I didnt know it had that kind of fish in the river! Also, they aren't killing smallmouth out of ridgeway, yet anyways. when is the last time you fished the Yampa? Where is the best spots to fish there?

Pueblo has tons of smallies. Biggest I've seen was 4 lb. also has fair amount of spots and largies. Heard brush hollow was good, never been there though. Navajo and McPhee as mentioned. Also ridgway reservoir has been producing some toad smallies!!Dont forget rifle gap, and I heard elkhead reservoir has a few smallies. Anybody know about the smallmouth in the Yampa river?

In pre fishing I do, so I can change quick, to different colors, baits etc... But on tournament day,I tie directly. I feel it doesn't effect the action, just a preference kind of thing. IMO

Has anybody fished in the Utah smallmouth lakes, like Jordanelle, Pineview, Deer Creek? If so, what are the best ways to catch them?
