  1. Thanks for the welcomes fellas.Been looking around and posting a lil bit andlike what I see Idlewind there is a fishing tournament for the strip pits for the 27th of this month.2 man teams and only 30 teams allowed.100% payout to first place. My brother in law was telling me about earlier today. He is gonna get more info and let me know.If ya want any info let me know and I will foward it to you.
  2. My one and only is a BPS Pro Qualifier and love it.Haven't owned any others so I can't compare it to anything else.If I ever buy another it will be an Abu Garcia.Have one of their spinning reels and love it.
  3. Have to agree with everybody here.Don't need a high dollar rod/reel combo to be a good fisherman. My 15 yr old daughter started fishing about 5 years ago.She has been using a Zebco 404 reel($15) and a cheap Shakespear rod from WallyWorld. Most days she out fishes me I went pond fishing today and caught a couple decent bass on a black beetle spin.It and shallow crankbaits have been a go to in farm ponds for me since I was a youngin.
  4. Took my 5 yr old nephew and his dad fishing today.Owen,my nephew, caught his first fish ever.He sure was excited.Tho it isn't a bass I still thought I would brag on the lil fella
  5. I mainly fish with crankbaits and for me the best has been a shallow diving firetiger.I have caught fish on several others but the firetiger seems to catch them when others don't.
  6. New here and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Gary westerevelt, live in Columbus,Ks,married, have 3 daughters and my first grandchild(a grandson) will be here in 3 short weeks.Been working in the business form business for 22 yrs now.Grew up on a farm and fished alot.Several years back all my fishing stuff was stolen.Never replaced it until a few years back when my youngest daughter wanted to start fishing.Been fishing off and on for the 5 years.Really started getting the fever last year and go as often as I can.I like to hit farm ponds and strip pits.My dad and I are making our 2nd trip to Lake Texoma to do some striper fishing next weekend.Went last summer and my biggest went 8 1/2 lbs. Looking forward to learning new techniques here.Mainly fishing plastic baits.I almost always use crank baits and live bait.
