  1. Common misconception - topwaters are only good for morning/afternoon, and only work well in cloudy conditions. I catch midday bluebird conditions consistently. I will stipulate - I only use floating stanley ribbits in heavy cover with a slow presentation. I don't have much experience topwatering in more open waters.
  2. Thanks Mark and Shane! Best description I can give: Water is full of hydrilla and there are little pockets amongst it where the bass tend to hideout. Fishing some heavy duckweed with hydrilla under it. There aren't really any mats out here....
  3. Also, if you're looking in Southern US, Pack & Paddle in Lafayette Louisiana does a demo day once a month in Lafayette. They also do private demos for serious buyers.
  4. I fish from a NuCanoe frontier 12. All I can say is that I looked at the hobie's for the mirage drive, and settled on the NuCanoe because I can use it for hunting as well as fishing. I'll say, I love my Nucanoe, but I kind of wish I'd have gone for the Hobie.... paddling all day is frigging exhausting! Good luck on your purchase. Most stores have demo days or will do a private demo if you're a serious buyer. PLEASE - heed this advice - demo it before you buy it!
  5. My go to's for fishing this HEAVY hydrilla in the bayous of Northeast LA are floating black or white ribbits, and texas rigged flukes. I've started using shakey heads recently, but still get hung up often. Any other ideas of what I can use?
