  1. TRue but if you buy 2 packs with some other stuff like in a larger order it works out OK.
  2. If you buy multiples it works out to be a deal.
  3. http://www.overstockbait.com/dealoftheday.asp You're welcome!
  4. That's pretty sweet. I've never seen your baits as I'm new here. Being a massive stick-bait fan myself, I'll happily buy a pack when they are available. I actually had spliced different colored egg sacks to some of my lures before. Genius idea really. My home spliced baits don't hold up long though. May I suggest a Junebug with a white egg sack? That was a good combo on several lakes for me. Great work and I look forward to looking at some more of your lures.
  5. That's scary.
  6. Grant Hill and Jason Kidd were some awesome dudes. Being still in my teens, I never saw Hill in his prime. Or Kidd for that matter, Of course I've watched countless videos and highlights but still.... nothing like witnessing a highlight play live. Kidd managed to stay pretty decent for his last years int he league. Sadly, Grant Hill kinda started breaking down. The went out with more dignity then Shaq though! Another player that I hate to see retire soon is T-Mac. Man.. even though he's only 34 I imagine his NBA run is pretty much done. With his career changing injuries earlier he's been done for awhile. I feel bad to see such an awesome player's career ruined by excessive injury. Anyhow... that dude could've come close to touching Jordan's greatness I think. Being a Point/shooting guard myself I have watched countless video of Tracy and Kidd in their prime. Two insane players that I hate to let go. While Kidd didn't have flashing scoring numbers, that dude could dish out dimes like nobody else ever will. Once Tim Duncan is retired I feel like the NBA will officially begin its new generation. Not looking forward to this one. Kidd was the last true passing point guard IMO. Kyrie Irving and Chris Paul come close. Rondo? Maybe. Westbrook is a great passer but he tends to take more shots than a PG really should IMO. But, when he makes them, who cares? The assist is losing it's popularity in the NBA and most teams are becoming a 1 or 2 man show. I'll miss that last generation.
  7. Well.... Drive up to Maine and go to Hancock pond! There are plenty of 3-4 pound smallies and a few LMs in there as well. Depending on where you live in NH, it might not be more than an hour or two away.
  8. I fish mine on a jig trailer. I've never had much luck any other way.
  9. I love the 4" for finicky bass. I wacky rig it on a 1/0 or 2/0 wicked wacky hook.
  10. Hey I see there is some confusion! I can post a pic later and describe it now. You have your blade... ok? So the you thread the blade with no swivel onto the hook, and then texas rig your plastic of choice. The blade hangs under the worm and flashes on the retrieve.
  11. I desperately wanted some basstrix swimbaits. I didn't manage to get them, but I got a pretty cool knock-off with the zman swimmerz. How do I fish these? I'm a newbie with swimbaits. I dabbled in them last year and caught a couple fish. How do I start with these guys? Just a straight retrieve? Any info would be great.
  12. Hmmm I have a fishing buddy and good friend named Justin. I mostly fish with grown men because they tend to have more maturity and knowledge then kids my age. However, Justin is my age and we constantly compete with everything we do. Fishing included. So... how many times have you accidentally swung into a stump and said to your buddy.."dang fish got me hung up!" Guilty. So I had line tension but I knew it was just weeds. I decided to really lay in to this one to make it look like I had a hawg bass on my line that hung me up. I actually figured that the hook would pop out of the "weeds" and it would look like I lost him altogether. So I set the hook into what I though was weeds and my rod snapped. Turns out that little tap that I though was weeds was me dragging my crank over a stump field. I set my hook into a stump, snapped my rod, and lost a $16 backstabber crankbait.
  13. I like your thinking! I also make homemade jigs out of old spinnerbaits.
  14. I love sharing knowledge. I hope you don't mind all the tip threads. Anyway..... I was fishing Crescent Lake in Raymond Maine. This lake is very heavily pressured and the bass won't hit a normal bait for #@$%. You gotta be original. So I'm only 15 but I have a few fishing buddies in the 30-50 y/o age range so I pick up some stuff from them. One of my old(er) fishing buddies has a brother who has fished at just about every level. We were fishing texas rigged lizards around some beds. The fish wouldn't hit. He casually grabs an old spinnerbait (he has a stash of old/broken ones) Takes off the blade and puts it on the texas rig under the worm. The change in the rig and the added flash did the trick. He ended up with a 5 pounder. I didn't do quite as well but I thought this tip was unique enough to share.
  15. Agreed. The big ones are a blast to pull in.
  16. What do use as a trailer? Chances are not one of these things. I'm sharing my secret tips that helped me land a 5-8 smallie last year. My secret trailers: the paddle tail of a banjo minnow. forked design offers amazing wiggle on the fall. This bad boy is responsible for that 5-8 smallie. Zoom trick worm 7''. one slight mod here. Get a pair of scissors AFTER threading it on and cut a slit down to where the worm meets the hook. Split tail bass killing action is at your fingertips. Cut a Castallia bombshell turtle in half and stuff it on a jig. There is no better way to fish that log IMO. Blue on white. IDK why but that color combo is just KILLER on my lake. If there is a science to it let me know please. Beavers are awesome texas rigged but they make great trailers too. I bet you all knew that one though.... That's all..... but here's a BONUS spinnerbait tip. Tie a small jerkbait to a trailer 18" behind a spinnerbait. Rapala floating minnows are deadly.Reel fast and hang on. Bass like to hammer the little "stalker".
  17. Oh cool! Thanks!
  18. So I went out fishing Arrowhead yesterday and the bass were in a variety of modes. Some were in post-spawn, and others were on the beds. The weather has really screwed them up. Anyway, the scorching heat from this heatwave was killing me but the fish were loving the warm(er) water. I went to a shallow bay and saw some shallow schooling bass but couldn't entice a bit. I tossed a topwater and BAM! A massive fish was on the end of my line. I brought it in and was kinda disgusted to find a 24 inch pickerel. 2 more pickerel later,(20 and 21 inches respectively) I switched up to a jig and pig and started pestering a nice bass that I saw on the bed. After 3 times of practically hitting it on the nose, she turned around and sucked in my jig. My rod bowed and a few minutes later I was staring at a sweet 4-11 Largemouth. I did OK the rest of the day. I caught a few 14-17 inchers along the way. They were really on for jigs and topwaters for some reason. The schooling bass wouldn't touch anything. If you have any advice for catching shallow schooling bass please share. I caught a few post-spawn fish in about 8 feet of water with a Bagley b1 crankbait. If you live in Maine, I recommend hitting Arrowhead. The draw-down of the lake has warmed it up quicker than it's parent lake Ossipee and it's offering fast action.
  19. I recommend you check your local Cabelas soon. I have some epic sale info. Sidenote: Could we establish a fishing tackle sales and deal sub-forum please? It would help. Anyway..... here are some of the deals. BAGLEY b1 discontinued cranks: $4.70 Kalin ready tied drop shot rigs: $1.99 Assorted strike king cranks: $2.99-5.99 Excalibur lipless cranks: $1.79 Zman swimmerz: $2.99 for 4. Sebile magic swimmer soft and hard: $8.99-10.99 Assorted Rapala Cranks: $4.99 Flat tire tubes: $1.79 Koppers live target craw: $7.99 Ish Monroe crankbait: $8.99 Not sure if this is nation wide but it's worth a look. The cabelas I hit is the Scarborough Maine one. If you live in the area give it a look. Or just check your local Cabelas anyway. I HIGHLY recommend the Bagley b1 crankbaits. They are KILLER! The action on them isn't quite as unique as the older ones which sell for $200 on Ebay but they are still amazing. Bass just don't see that Bagley wiggle anymore and when I fished with 'em yesterday they couldn't keep their mouths off it. Great for covering the 2-10 foot range.
  20. I personally have a medium size tackle box and I put all my hooks on paper clips to store them in there. They don't get mixed up that way.
  21. Yeah no prob. Garlic is great for largemouth but if you have anise on hand it does wonders for smallies.
  22. Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
  23. I have heard great things about beaver style baits, but no matter how hard I try, I couldn't buy a strike on one.... What am I doing wrong? I fish it texas rigged, no peg on the sinker.....
  24. So I bet you all have heard of this.... I've found that I can literally double my strikes by jamming a piece of sponge soaked in anise oil up in my tubes. A lot of people use coffee or garlic, but I found anise works the best. P.S..... Anise does NOT rhyme with "heinous".
  25. The picture of the 8 pounder is right there. It was 24 inches long. Just for reference.....
