Biggest thing in a jig is having the confidence to throw it. I would start off throwing a mini jig , i like strike king's bitsy bug or bitsy flip, and only bringing that out with you. Due to its smaller profile, it will get you a lot more bites so you can learn what a jig bite feels like and you can learn all the habits of it. Once you get a lot of confidence in throwing that mini jig, move up to larger profile jig. This is what i did a couple years ago. I could never throw a jig for more than 15 minutes cause i had no confidence in them and i always reached for something else.Now I always have that jig rod close by and gets put to good use Good luck!

My two favorite beaver type baits are the Reaction Innovations sweet beaver and the Strike King Rodent. The rodent is a lot softer and not as durable as the sweet beaver though.

I use braid for everything except my crank/ top water setup. When flipping, I use yellow braid and color the first couple feet of line with a black sharpie because most of the water I fish is pretty dirty but when fishing clear water, I use a flouro leader.

Hey guys, I'm 17 and hoping to buy a truck this summer. I was thinking about the Tacoma 4x4. It would be used for city commuting, occasionally carrying sheets of plywood and drywall, and sometimes towing an 18' Glastron fish and ski boat or landscaping equipment in a trailer. Do you guys think the Tacoma would have enough power for the towing or should I move up to a full size. Also, how does the fuel consumption compare to a full size like a Silverado or an f-150. Any advice feedback on the Tacoma would be appreciated James

I have been using the 201e7 on my flipping rod for about a month or so now and I am very impressed. As soon as I used it i knew I needed more! Easily my best reel but not my most expensive which is always a plus. As soon as I can I'm replacing my current spinnerbait reel and cranking reel with some new chronarchs.

I actually use the dobyns champion flipping stick 765 for all my jigs and creature. I also, have gotten in to using the shimano clarus 7'2 heavy for a lot of my jigging. My swim jig rod (formally my full time jig rod) is a st. Croix ltb 7'1 mh xf. I switched over because the ltb I got was a bit to soft for pitching in my opinion

I try to take others out as often as possible. It's definitely nice to have someone to talk to, especially when the bite is slow.

Are you saying that the champ is much more sensitive than the savvy and the champ x is only a little bit more sensitive than the champion?

thanks for the input guys! i have decided to narrow it down to two rods. the savvy 735 or the champ 765FLIP. I will be using it for only flipping and pitching. is the 765 flip really that much more sensitive or should i just stick to my original plan of the savvy? Thanks!
