Bass Class

during spring, i mostly use weedless frogs in the morning, and i do wait a few fractions of a second longer with the frogs like i have been told, in mid morning to early afternoon i use crankbaits (with treble hooks), and anytime later than that i use the best working lure that i had used before that.

After a long (and cold) winter, spring finally emerges, and so do I from a long salmon/steelhead season. I'm feeling kind of rusty from spring 2013 (mostly because fourteen out of fifteen bass i hooked came off...).I seem to have better luck around autumn. But i'm looking for some pointers on how to keep these postspawn bass on. Is it something i'm doing, or is it inevitable?

wen't fishing at terrell yesterday. no luck. missed a 4 pounder though.

Salmon fishing season is here in northwest Washington, so i'm not going to be posting a lot of reports but i might throw some misc. stuff in every once and a while. I will however be posting a ton of reports in fall.

Last year, I wast exploring the area around my favorite lake, Lake Terrell, WA. I found an archery range about 2 miles from the lake. According to the map, there was about 6 ponds, 1 large reservoir, and 2 smaller ones. It also said you could fish there. So i put on a frog, grabbed my tackle bag, and headed out. The first pond was about 1 half a mile from the parking area. As soon as my first cast hit the water, the water seemed to spring to life. Wake from all directions came in towards the frog. Then a couple of huge heads appeared next to my frog and one of them took it. So i dragged it in and it turned out to be an absolutely huge bullfrog. It had completely swallowed the frog whole. I removed the hooks carefully so i wouldn't damage it. If you were to stretch the frogs out they would easily have been a foot long from the tip of the head to the feet. After catching a couple more I moved on. There were so many trails there that I had to just guess where the large reservoir was. Well, I eventually found it and fished it for an hour or so. I never ended up catching anything besides the bullfrogs that day. The water at the large reservoir was so full of cover, and i don't see how i didn't catch something that day. But, if anyone has ever caught bullfrogs on a topwater frog before, please leave your experiences in the comments. Bass Class

When i caught my first bass my pair of expensive pliers fell into the bottom of the lake. Then a couple of months later when i had forgot about it, i was fishing a jig and hooked into something. Believe it or not, it was my pliers!

Last year in August, i was fishing a black, yellow, and green strike king KVD frog when i got a slammin hit. A largemouth, probably about 6 lbs. took it. I managed to get it in about half way but then it took off into some heavy cover. I only had 10 lb. test on my reel so when i tried to break it free, the line snapped. But, anyway, it turned out to be a decent day. We managed to pull in a couple of 1-2 and a half pounders. By the way, i live in northwestern Washington, so a 6 lb. bass is a prize!

Just to back this post up, we do throw the fish back, we did ask permission, and we go after golfing hours so we don't bother anyone. We also were not kicked out by the authorities, we were kicked out by the thunder and the lightning.

Went golf course bass fishing with my uncle at about 7 pm. Within the first 15 minutes, my uncle caught a 1-2 pounder. Then i got one. Had it on for about 10 seconds, then it got off. Fished for an hour or so after that. Then we both lost a couple and got about 5-10 bites each. During the first hour or so the weather was decent. But then a huge cloud came by and it started pouring. Then the thunder and lightning came . So, we were forced to go. I was using a Strike King KVD frog, green, yellow, and black. He was using a texas-style weedless worm. Weather conditions were sunny with a few clouds (mostly). Largest one we saw was about 5 pounds.
