What's up guys. I haven't been on here in a while. Been away from fishing a while as well. I'm getting back into the motions and the swing of things but I've only caught one fish in the last 3 trips. I'm throwing trick worms, brush hogs (caught the one on him at holiday park swimming just underneath the water surface. about 2lb'r). I see everyone else is struggling so at least it's not the operator hahaha. Trying to plan a holiday park trip out soon. Anyone trying to split boat rental, I'm down. Let's rip some before the heat wave come take over.

Florida Bass Club September Tournament
I'm very experienced with weapons and I would have bet my life that gun would've banged if I pulled the trigger. I know its my fault for the doors being unlocked. i know its my fault for my bringing it in the house. I also know how many rounds it would've taken to broke the gun in. I'm always armed...why carry my conceal in the house with me when I have a shotgun beside my bed, pistol in the couch, laundry room and kitchen, and I have a AR-15 in my closet??? No need in hauling my conceal back and fourth out of the house. I'm sure I won't get mugged walking 10 steps in my home. It's all good though. He needed the gun more than me obviously. Hopefully someone run the serial if they try and do something with it

I'll be casting out tonight Gents. I haven't been fishing in 3-4 days. Annoyed and frustrated. I know this golf course has fish in it, just not producing for me (except that one), including my canal. It's been raining here lately as well. Don't want to be caught up in the rain or waste my gas driving somewhere when it's going to pour on me. A quick side question...WHY DO PEOPLE IN FL STEAL SO MUCH!? My 09 R1 motorycle was stolen back in June and now my pistol, 3 days ago. I guess I forgot to lock the doors on my truck or at least thought I did and they stole my little conceal pistol. It was a taurus slim, 7 rd. i hadnt even got a chance to put any rounds through it. i loved how small it was too. fit right in my pocket. I hope he shoot him d**n self in the head thinkin it's not loaded because it for sure is! Can't turn your back for 3secs or someone will get you! My glock is on standby for the next scum bag. Ok BACK TO FISHING! Haha

Chalk me up for 13"...I think it was 13.5 but he kept flopping so I said forget and ran with 13. That was the only catch before it got super windy and dark clouds started rolling in. Caught him on a worm at a golf course pond. Oh yea, the waters levels are insanely low. I can see the bottom about 2ft out from the edge. Ponds and canals.

*deep sigh* ...I'm trying guys. I found a new spot on the golf course that I know will produce. I just can't be a late night creeper for these two ponds. Maybe 5-6PM will be a good time for them. Went to BPS to pick up hooks and Ribbit frogs. Those frogs have amazing action and vibration. However, the more I worked them the more I kept getting frustrated! I missed 4 bass tonight on top water bites. I wanted to cry I was so frustrated hahaha. They had the f***ing frog in their mouth and i set the hook. maybe i need to wear my big boy panties so i can start setting hard enough for the hook to pierce their lip. Switched to the worm, silence! Fluke, silence (think it got too late). Oh yea, was fishing this other pond and fish are in there...but they're obviously small!! EVERY cast, bite bite bite bite bite...but they were nibbles. Never ATE the stinking worm so I didn't bother setting the hook. I left those little hungry fish alone. Yea, so I'm experiencing you guys frustration! Haha

I'm in guys. Sorry, haven't been in tune with the forum lately. However, I have been fishing and can't catch nothing but grass or small fish. I guess I need to eat a big meal before I go and make sure my phone is charged so I can text and listen to music. That'll buy me some patience. I haven't been catching a soul lately though

Threw a worm into this sloppy, nasty corner. As I was trying to get it out of grass, I got a bite. Jacked up the hook set, reeled it in and hurried up to pitch it exactly where I missed him at. BAM! I got a good hookset and I thought a shark had took my worm. I've never had a finish swim that hard and much around the water. Tighten the drag up and this is what I pulled out. Oh yea, I finally got a pic with a fish bc my wife and daughter was wanting to see a big one in person. The bite happened right as they were leaving and came back haha

It's white pearl w/chartreuse tail. haha, exactly what I was thinking...if its not broken why fix it? If they're killing the fluke, why change it out? I'm just now hearing about this contest. I'll jump into the next one and see what I can do hahaha. How do it work?

thanks AK. fluke is my primary right now. I haven't had much luck with my worms, lizards, or brush hogs. I've ran out of scent, that should be delivered by Friday so hopefully I can be more versatile and use different plastics. Another reason is because the bottom of these canals are full of grass. its so bad it look like trees and bushes are in there. we need some rain because I want the canal to come up higher. Can fish see or find my deep sinking plastics through all that crap in there? I throw Yum D2 Dingers weightless and my lizards with a weight (don't remember how much they weigh. they're light). What do you guys think, continue keeping the lure above the "trees and bushes"? haha

just now seeing this; I'm in Lauderhill. Yes, last night was a full moon and they loved my fluke. Was going to give the jitter bug another swing since I've yet to get a bite on it but why change lures when they are killing the fluke. When I searched the Pea's yesterday, I saw where they go for fast moving lures. Cranks, top water, jerks, poppers, and etc. anything fast but it can't be plastic. i had a nice 2-3lb Pea hanging underneath my brush hog. didn't take it. then i switched to the fluke, didn't take it haha. Last night, I would throw the fluke across the canal, let it sink for 3-5secs, check the line to see if i had a bite. no bite, start jerking it across. when i saw the fluke getting close I would let it sink..jerk...sink...jerk. Then I would give it some slack and let it hang right on the edge of the canal, making sure it was deep in the water and twitch my rode up and down while I text on my phone hahaha. I would feel the my line being pulled, try to shake my pole and feel weight. bad news delivered to the lip. Oh yea, I had perfect hook sets last night by the way hahaha

The one with grass around him, he hit the fluke as I was running it over the weeds. Kinda surprised me cause it was a very sloppy area on the edge of the canal

went fishing last night. those monsters were destroying the fluke again guys. I know where the big ones be at now. Only trick is what night are they biting and if they're in the area. Might not be there if I go tonight. Oh yea, my canal is full of peacock bass btw. I can see them swimming around at the top. Tried to get them to bite but all they will do is follow my lure. I researched them when I got home and come to find out they won't bite plastics. Have to throw a spinner or something hard

I went and picked up some size 2 hooks. I'm going to give them a shot but they were inhaling the 5/0. I feel like the 2/0 will disappear like an alligator ate it. we'll see though haha. You're absolutely right, night time fishing is all about feel.

I fish with the bass pro shops magna hooks, size 5/0. I have no clue with the hook is going so deep in their mouth. I figured they were just coming up and trying to inhale the fluke...bad news, that's a hook haha. With my flukes, I never feel the bite. I would try and give it another twitch, I'll feel the weight of a fish, and just pull up. I don't even set the hook because they pretty much hook themselves.

AK-NK, read my post ^^. Lol I missed about 3-4 fish on a frog last night. Horny toad to be exact

Guys, let me tell you...I went fishing last night in the canal that runs around my community and SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH! OOHHHH how much I love fishing top water now lol. I was fishing horny toad and a fluke. I done a little research before I went out fishing to figure out how to fish those little guys. Horny toads are definitely different when it comes to hook sets; not like a worm. I missed about 3 fish because the hook set is so different. Come to find out, you have to slam the hook into the fish or he'll get away. I end up pulling 1-2 out with it but like I said missed about 3. My new favorite top water/swim lure...THE FLUKKEE!! Guys, I'ma just put it like this. The fish were crushing my fluke so hard, 3 of them I had to take a knee to get the hook out. We had ourselves a little operating room on the side of the canal. One had the hook in his throat...IN his throat. I seriously though I might had to cut it because it was hooked (looped) in his throat. Blood would puddle up and he would open his throat to swallow it. Finally got the hook out but after the poor fish took off, he swimmed back to me; floated on the edge for about 20mons. I think he was telling me to take him out of the misery. Too bad I didn't have a net or anywhere to throw his remains. The other two, one had it in the top of his throat but not bad and the other wasnt as bad neither. Had to cut a piece of his skin to release the hook. The rest boys, perfect hook sets. If you're not fishing flukes and toads , go out and ****** up a pack but hopefully you can make it to some water at night. I was out from 10-30-11ish (pm) till 1-130 this morning. I bought a live target frog but unfortunately they didnt want him last night. I guess they were either very active and wanted fast stuff or the water was too open (no leaves, grass, pads) to fool them with a popping frog. Thanks for reading my essay btw. I just like sharing my experiences since I'm finally catching LMB. Oh yea, last night catches were nice size. They got bigger the more I threw the fluke haha. I think the smallest was 2lbs and biggest 3-3.5

South Florida
OK guys, I'm going to share a brief moment of my experience from last night. To the OP, I'm not trying to jack your thread. Just found the first "south Florida" thread to post share this on instead of starting a brand new one. I haven't been fishing in about a month or two because it's so stinking hot and fish are just NOT BITING! I hate standing on a bank fishing canals and not getting bites. I know they're in the canals because I'll see them swimming shallow at times. Once I was throwing a crank bait and as the lure approached the bank, I saw a decent 3lb'er tailing it. He never did bite; I believe if the canal was 10 feet wider, he would've took it. ANYWAY, moving on to last night. My wife ticked me off by interrupting my nap when I had JUST dozed off...wanting to use my truck to go pick up this chair her friend was giving her. So i eventually get up and come to find out, this female lives right by this piece of canal I fish in. I never leave take my poles or tackle box out of my truck so I thought...hmm, she want to get me out then I'm going to go try and catch a fish tonight. On our way back home, I stopped and to remind you this is where I caught my first 5lb'er +. Wasn't getting any bites so I finally got my worm in this spot I had been aiming for (3rd and 4th cast). The 4th cast, I was working the worm back and just knew I was about to get bit...never did. So I said f**k it and started to reel the worm in, which caused the worm to float right on top of the water...BAM!! This nice 3lb fish destroyed that worm hahaha! I've never experienced a top water bite and let me tell you, that was very interesting. I actually jumped because the splash was so big and I wasn't expecting it. I believe that's the trick, fishing at night (not the evening) and throwing top water swim baits. That moves me to this question...what are some good top water, swimming lures you guys use? I'm use to fishing with jigs and worms so top water would be new to me.
