Good choice! It is a great workhorse for sure. I have mine on a frog rod and with the drag locked it is a BEAST. I'd probably just make sure to add a drop or so of oil on the handle side gearing... Mine was pretty dry. Also take a Q-tip and wipe a super thin coating of light reel oil on the brake race- that is the metal disc thingy on the inside of the brake cover that the brakes run along. If it's completely dry it can get loud and screamy and nobody wants that.

If they're worth it to you, they're worth it. I usually buy one or two at a time so the sting isn't too bad anyways.

Slug-Go SS Whippiest finesse worm I've ever fished. Since it's got the front end of a slug-go with that whiptail you can pretty much walk the dog underwater with it while barely moving it. This keeps it in the strike zone for a long time. It's like my secret weapon. Purple majesty seems to be the most productive color as well.

Especially considering there's like 600 zoom worms per bag that's an even better deal than it would be otherwise! Nice grab! Also, it might not be a very good deal in comparison but there is always part of me that will feel like I got a killer deal when I get a 600yd spool of 6# Yo-Zuri Hybrid to my doorstep for $12. Can't wait to go fishing this weekend!

20-30ft out you can still see the bottom? It's either really clear or really shallow. If it's the latter and you're in MA you may have had a winter kill. I know of a few ponds like that- look great but they aren't deep enough to sustain larger fish over a bad winter so they mostly have sunnies or bluegills and maybe a few pickerel.

I'd just laugh. Heck, I've had random junkies try to start fights with us before for literally no reason. Even then we just laughed and carried on. Not worth letting some dirtbird suck you into their problems and ruin your day or maybe even your life.

Sounds like he missed a spot. No reel should be loud or getting louder. It HAS to be due to grime/grease buildup or something going wrong. I would take an evening, clean and flush it out top to bottom and lightly oil the races and all contact surfaces and see how she does. If it still makes noise just sell it and get an LFS.
