  1. As I've told in the post #5 deer's BUCKTAIL has very strong smell. And washing is helping not so much; only adding odor of washing staff. I'm suspecting that you are fly fishing guy and has no idea that in the saltwater for salmon and striped bass fisherman using also rubber skirts on the trebles and call them BUCKTAIL. Of course, it is not classical bucktail but it is tail and name was transferred.
  2. Unfortunately it doesn't "take care of itself after a couple" or even hundreds casts. Especially rubber smell. I've successfully used some of Mepps flying "C" for couple seasons and they are smelly like first day. Even I am feeling that smell what about fish which could feel one molecule of substance on dekaliters of water. Another question: how fish is reacting on particular smell. May be we are too precocious when washing lures and hands by Lemon Joy?(That BTW has own odor). I've watched fisherman that smoking one cigarette after other and handled lures by smelly hands but it did not prevented them from successful fishing.
  3. According the picture center of gravity of that spinner is too high and it could overturn lure "belly up". Probably I am wrong because hook is keeping balance and Mepps design like always perfect. Is somebody has used Mepps Dorsal Fin?

Some spinners like Mepps Aglia Long and some spinners that I made create sound like ring while retrieving. Is it normal? Is it bad? Is it good for salmon fishing? I know that for largemouth bass especially design "noisy" lures for bass attracting. Is it right for salmon?

  6. Guys, what do you think about odor of bucktails ? Deer's bucktails have very strong smell. Same the rubberskirts. Even latex on Mepps flying "C". Could it repel the fish? I've tried to eliminate this odors but failed. So, there are pluses and minuses. What is prevail?
  7. I've recently bought some of Mepps flying "C". Spindle wire is bending like a pretzel after couple casting. It is something new for Mepps. They are were kind of icon of quality before. Made in China?
  8. I found Edit -> Paste instead of right click
  9. Yes, I've played with that but it is going worth or stopping blade at all. Sharp snap could help sometimes but it is undesirable because could spook the fish. Very often fish could be attracted by falling lure. Good spinner should start rotation immediately on low speed of retrieving.
  10. Hi, guys! I am making inline spinners for myself about three years and accumulated already some experience. Usually it is spinners for salmon similar to Mepps Flying "C" or Blue Fox with blades #5 or #6 and body weight about 5/8 to 7/8 oz. There is one problem that I couldn't resolve for now: Sometimes after casting the body of lure laying over the blade horizontally and stuck deadly. It is riding in the blade like in the boat. I am calling that "boating". I've tried change the speed of retrieving, parameters of the spinner but nothing help. It happens not so often and could be ignored (except that, spinners are working perfectly) but I just curious: is somebody has encountered with same cases? During the lure test that situation could be easy emulated manually: put spinner on the suffers of water horizontally (body in the blade) and start puling. Blade will stuck. All lures more or less are prone for that problem. Even Mepps Flying "C". Any ideas?
  11. I couldn't paste some word text to here. Any ideas?
  12. Thank you Sam! I already have a couple good spinning reels: Shimano and Boca, but when I found in the Big 5 store the Quantum Accurist 570PT on big-big sale (it was a last reel of that kind - probably the show case sample without box and "as is") I couldn't resist and bite the bait. Anyway for $25 bucks it is a huge bargain even with disable flipp'in switch. I hope I will have a time to fix the switch later.
  13. Thank you Bluebasser86! If I understand that technique right, at first, I have to retain both: the spool and thumb bar when I am starting the cast and after to release the spool but in same time continue to keep the bar down. So, thumb should to slide from spool to thumb bar. I've tried it exactly like you recommended but when I finally releasing the thumb bar, (while switch is on), the spool continue to roll and not stopping. Probably it is something wrong with switch. All another functions of reel is OK. Thank you again!
  14. Hi Guys, I recently bought a Quantum Accurist Burner reel with specialized Flippin' Switch that how it described in the flyer "gives you complete control for flippin' with precision, and the sleek Accurist lives up to its name by helping you put lures in front of fish – even in tight cover". Is somebody has an idea how to use that "magic" switch? I've tried to press and/or depress it before or during or after casting... Nothing good has happens... Any advices will welcome.
  15. Hi everybody, I am trying to mimic the Mepps Flying C and have a problem to find latex tubing with thin walls similar to tubing using by Mepps. All colorful tubing I could find has thick walls that hard to handle and they are increasing lures body diameter too much. May by somebody know the appropriate source? Thank you
