  1. ^^^^^THIS^^^^^ I keep switching it up until the fish eat one presentation. 6" Zoom finesse in green pumpkin rigged texas is generally where I start.
  2. I agree looks like a weed/grass bed to me.
  3. Their spinning reels leave a lot to be desired
  4. Again thank-you for your service I appreciate it. Sorry I can't help you with Tims Ford. If your interested in Cordell Hull I can help you.
  5. If that's what you the rod you have I would use it. Is it the optimal rod ,IMO no ,will it work, sure. As far as the hooks you mention they'll work fine. I use the same hook except in 2/0. My finesse worm is 6" so if you're using a 4" worm the 1/0 might be a better choice. Gammie hooks are pretty light wire except for their "superline" hooks.
  6. Speaking for my wife Bill, she uses a spinning reel, and she's pretty effective with it I might add
  7. Owning both sustains and stradics I can't see any difference between the 2 when I tear them down for maintenance
  8. What pound test are both your lines. Reason I ask is BC I was thinking about buy a Duckett rod with the micro guides buy was worried the knot would catch in the guides.
  9. The 3 lines I have used the most are PowerPro Suffix & Fireline. Most of the use with these lines came in the form of saltwater surfcasting.Out of the 3 Suffix had a slight edge over PP, Fireline IMO is junk, I've tried it over and over and still don't like it. I'm heading out to my barn now to take the Fireline crystal of my reels. Tried this line on my freshwater reels for 4 weeks and I got even worst results than I did on my surfreels!
  10. Hi Spinnervin, i'm new here myself. I used to live on Long Island and fished both fresh & saltwater. We moved to TN a year ago. Talk about some fishing opportunities and access!! Where in NY are you?
  11. Alan Hawk gives excellent reviews been reading them for years!
  12. I think keith it correct. If you're fishing one lake and not getting breakoffs and you fish another and are it' gotta be the structure, assuming you're tieing your knots the same way one both lakes. I 've fished lakes in ny that had zebra mussel beds, no line stands up to it.
  13. IMO personal preference, whatever you feel more comfortable with.I personally use spinning but can do the same thing w/ baitcasting.
  14. Talking from my personal experience, I had a 7' St.Criox Premiere surfrod that I used off my boat for throwing sluggos ,bucktails, redfins and bombers. My reel was a Diawa Tournament SS 1600, great reel, maintenance was minimal, great drag . Spool it up with #20 braid and you'll handle a lot bigger fish than schoolies!
  15. How would these micro guides work if you used braid w/ a leader. Wonder if the knot would get caught.
  16. My experience with fluorocarbon on spinning reels is that it sux!
  17. The only shimano bc I've own were the bantams ,they were very good reels. The calcuttas i'm familiar with but never owned on. They're suppose to be good. What do the reels retail for new? IMO if they come with the box & paperwork & you're paying 1/2 the retail price you got a good deal.
  18. Me too & the one's w/o reels on them are in a flambeau bazooka.
  19. Me & my wife been fishing together for 36 years. She's as avid as anyone I know! We used to belong to 2 clubs where she was the only female angler in both clubs.
  20. That's what I was thinking ,almost looks fake.
  21. That's all I've used on my spinning reels since 1998. Love the way it handles, cast and fishes. Then thin diameter let's you get away using less weight, to me more advantages than disadvantages. But i'm looking back to mono for some situations. Been fishing a lot of shoreline blowdowns and when you get your jig hung you disturb the whole spot! I put a post in this forum on McCoy line, like what the fellas said so I,m gonna spool up some #8 mean green & see how many I can loose....uh I mean land out of these blowdowns. Maybe I'll go with #10.
  22. Just want to say hi. Moved to TN. about a year ago. God do I love the fishing here! Been fishing Cordell Hull but in 2 months plan on hitting Dale Hollow. Cant wait to try to figure that place out.
