  1. Spend a little exxtra and get a 7' mf Avid off eBay. No point in having a great reel if you cant pair it with a great rod. Otherwise 6 months from now you're going to wish you spent a little more because youll wonder how much better your setup could be...trust me. Spend now, feel the satisfaction forever.
  2. Anyone? I'm going out in a little while here and would like to make sure I'm working it the best way possible.
  3. Hey guys, I know there is a jerkbait thread but this is kind of general plastic...although I am most curious about it In relation to fishing a fluke. When you cast it out and start working it doing a jerk jerk pause technique, it seems 9/10 hits come on the pause when the bait is sinking. My question is this: When do you reel in your slack after your twitches/jerks? You have to keep some slack in the line in order to get the right motion, but I feel like I'm missing fish because by the time I reel in most of my slack the fish is ready to spit the fluke. Should I be doing a jerk-jerk-reel in most slack-pause? Because then I feel like by reeling in most of the slack that the fluke cant drop down and "die" on the pause. I have been doing a jerk-jerk-pause-reel in slack. When I reel in the slack then I feel the tap and then its gone... Hopefully this makes sense, I typed it up on my phone. I really want to master fishing flukes but after missing one today I want to make sure my technique is spot on. Please break it down as simple as you can. Thanks guys
  4. Has anyone found anywhere online to get the ci4+ for a bit cheaper than retail?
  5. Dwight, that stinks I wish I would have posted this last week. Maybe I will call and try always. Long shot but who knows. Crappie, that is for the previous model unfortunately.
  6. Yeah I figured...I couldn't find anywhere w a labor day sale that didn't exclude shimano
  7. Hi guys, Sorry for the kind of pointless thread but jw if anyone can point me in the direction of a site with a coupon code or anywhere to get the new ci4+ for cheaper than $220 shipped? Thanks!
  8. Been using old fashioned PP for about 8 years now. Going to try the super slick next I think.
  9. Not sure if you are paying full price but if you do some shopping I just got a brand new legend xtreme 7'mf for $275 shipped and I absolutely love It.
  10. After speaking to a rep, I understood it as the blanks are slightly different due to a new process they are using to improve the xtreme?
  11. Well I got from a dealer who went straight through the factory and due to demand I finalllly got it today. It feels amazing. I love the new skin handle as it is very sleek and comfortable. Will be out all weekend and give a review after. Now I just need to order a new CI4+
  12. TW has 15% off but of course it doesn't apply to Shimano....hmm, revo? patriarch? shoot lol
  13. I have a pair of their polarized aviators, no complaints for the price!
  14. With the CI4+ having the X-ship, I think I'm going to pull the trigger. Now I just need to find somewhere having a labor day sale or a decent online coupon code...open to suggestions
  15. DId you have previous experience with the ci4?
  16. All I've used for the past 8 years or so has been PowerPro and I don't have many complaints. The only thing, another used recommended using a fluro leader when fishing weightless flukes or worms, might try that out.
  17. I fish the good ol' muddy mississippi mainly so I don't need to worry about stealth so much, however, the comment about using mono with flukes has made me consider using a leader for that. Shoot lol. I've also fished strictly powerpro for the past 8 years or so, kind of want to try something new...
  18. Doesn't using a mono leader eliminate one of the main reasons for fishing braided line, strength? I'm just worried I would be breaking off on the few feet of mono.
  19. I saw that, doesn't seem like there are many reviews out on it yet though.
  20. Hey guys, Looking for some more opinions. Looking to get a new reel for my sc legend 7'mf when it gets here this week. I have been fishing a pflueger supreme over the past few years and have been quite fond of it but looking to get something for the new setup. This will be my all purpose rod as I use it to troll, flip, crank, jig, the whole shebang. Been considering a few different models, wondering if there is one that is considered above the rest. -Pflueger patriarch -Shimano stradic CI4 -Abu Garcia Revo -Daiwa Ballistic -Quantum EXO -Shimano Sustain but this might be a little above my price range Otherwise if there is anything else that I am missing but just wondering if any of these will be in a class above the others, or if there really will be a major difference from my supreme compared to one of these. Once again, thanks for the help!
  21. Thanks guys. I have 4 st croix fly rods but this will be my first venture into a spinning rod by them except for an old triumph. Now I feel like I'm waiting for Christmas morning lol.
  22. Is that an older model? I didn't think they offered anything fast action shorter than 7'. I ordered the 7'mf, should be here this weekend. Week after that I will be in the boundary waters hopefully catching everything from walleye to lake trout. Will review It then.
  23. well I just spoke with Dan and he said to go with the 7 foot medium fast. He said that the extra fast just won't work with crankbaits
