  1. Went out Fri morning launched at Prince William and spent all day down the the branch next to sandy run. Pretty good day caught 4 first part of day on spinner and soft plastic worm. Then the rain came. I decided to wait it out so I hid out with another boat under the Hampton Rd bridge for about an hour and a half. After the rain the fish really started moving the guy in the boat was playing around and on first cast caught a little 1.5lb right at the mouth of the bridge lol. Thats when I decided to put the poncho on and head out lol. Fish were very active after the rain I caught another 4 nice ones in about 1.5hrs before i headed in. Had one nice 3lb and one that was just shy of 6lbs. All in all not a bad day off that 6lb one made the rain all worth it lol. SD
  2. Man I wish I would have found this forum earlier in the summer. I have just been getting back into fishing since about June here on the Res and I'm telling you it has been a learning experience lol. It is completely different than what I am used to. I grew up fishing tournies in Al in the rivers where it was mainly shallow fishing. From what I have learned fishing the res is that I am completely out of my comfort zone in the main body of water since I am fishing from a one man inflatable and no depth or fish finder and really not used to the drastic drop offs. So I try to stick to the fingers branching from the main body of water in the shallows mainly. I had some success around the Lake Ridge HOA launch and from Lake Ridge Marina i usually go right and head up to the rowing place sandy something, theres a nice branch there that goes all the way up to hampton road that i like but if you go under the bridge it gets pretty shallow quickly. I havent had much luck getting the bass to chase flashy baits like cranks or spinner/chatterbaits in the shallows so I mainly stick to soft plastics Im a texas rig kinda guy anyways lol. So any advice on where to catch and types of cranks would be greatly appreciated so I can cover more area lol. Anyways just wanted to say hi and im hoping I can add some knowledge here once I get some lol. Im fishing out of a one man green pontoon boat so dont be a stranger.
