  1. I was just down at Hemlock this past weekend. Tried all my usual spots. No bites other than nibbles from Bluegill. I'll probably wait until mid to late May before going back. It was like this last year too. My feeling is they are all hanging in the upper areas of the res doing their thing.
  2. Yep. The path is to the left as you go down into the court. They are doing some construction down there, but the path to the lake is still open.
  3. Finally got out to Riverbend Park today, but could only put in a couple of hours. Caught a couple small smallmouths using watermelon 5" senko's that I cut in half. Water was clear down to the bottom and you could see pretty big catfish swimming around. It was my first time there on a canoe and I feel I wasnt in the best area to fish for them. I'm studying maps more and will try out some different areas next time.
  4. Nice fish. I've eyeballed some of those ponds. Nowadays, I'm eyeballing any pond I come across lol. I went up to Riverbend Park today to rent a canoe and fish, but there was an event going on, so the wife and I ended up going to Great Falls Park. We fished an area out on the rocks near the dam and she caught the only smallmouth. We ended up walking the path towards Riverbend and stopped at a spot that had a big rock sticking out of the water. Second cast and I land a smallmouth (my only one for the day). My wife was on them though and she got 3 within 15 minutes, largest being a 1lber. What was nice was there was no one fishing there. Lots of hikers, but no one fishing. We are going to try to get up to Riverbend Park next weekend to get out on the river and see what we can do.
  5. Hit the res this morning. Rented a boat from LR marina. Tried a bit of deeper water fishing. Caught one ~1.5 lbs, and a couple of misses. It was slow for us so we switched to fishing the shoreline. Found a spot that was biting about 30 minutes before we had to start heading back to the marina. Caught a few more, but they were all under 1lb. Still a good day to be on the water.
  6. I picked one up a couple weeks ago also to get a better idea of the topology. So far my resevoir fishing has been limited to fishing shoreline along the main res and some coves. The maps may give me an idea of where to try fishing some deeper water, but its still going to be a crap shoot whether anything is there or not
  7. Thanks. Its been murky for the last couple of weeks. Finally cleared up enough to start seeing more features on the bottom. Thats the place. Its a lot of walking, but worth it. I've caught both large and small mouth down there.
  8. Figured it was time to register since I've learned a few things from this thread. Hemlock in Clifton is a good shore fishing location, for those without boats. You have to walk a bit but it can pay off. Hopefully get a small boat one of these days as using a Jon boat from Lake Ridge Marina is nice, but sucks at the same time. Anyway, went to Hemlock today and caught a bunch of smallmouth bass, best being a 2lb'er.
