  1. Hey guys, just thought I post a few pics of Clayton from this last Friday. He came to my middle school classroom to talk about/demo making some of his jigs... He also, made a bag full of jigs for the kids to take home! The kids were excited all week and I honestly didn't know they could focus like that... Thanks again for volunteering your time to come out man! Much appreciated... Eddie V

  3. fun time. great meeting you guys! Eddie V
  4. Hey guys, im interested in fishing in the lake olathe tourny you guys are putting together this Thursday... are yall letting anyone fish it? I have a boat and my fishing partner would be accompanying me... if so, what are the details? I work till 6 but, work is 5 minutes from the lake... Thanks in advance Eddie V
  5. lake olathe was active again... texas rigged worm in shaded areas. i hit the car wash and power wash my boat after every use... texas habit to prevent saltwater corrosion..
  6. hit up Perry yesterday and had a slower day than normal.. ended up finding some structure in deeper water and the fun started... missed a really big fish that snapped my line to start. Despite all the warmer weather deeper water tactic, weve been catching them in shallow structure until yesterday. all we threw was a Trigged worm. Im about to make a quick Olathe trip this evening followed by a Perry trip in the morning... also caught a massive, crowd favorite drum! Threw him back for you guys to catch.. I realllllllllly like Perry.
  7. Thanks again for the response. We went to Olathe Lake that day and hammered the LM... we didn't catch any to really brag about, but we caught a ton... Yesterday evening we went out and put in at the Rock Creek ramp... started off throwing a crankbait off the rip rap and i immediately hooked into a good sized drum.. We didn't have much luck on that stretch so we decided to wing it and cruise around looking for spots that looked promising... every spot we stopped at produced some LM... it was awesome, until we ran out of daylight... Were going back out tomorrow morning and going to spend the entire day out there to hit those same areas and then look for some more. All the fish were good sized tournament fish... again, everything caught on a texas rigged worm... minus the drum. Also, drum here are considered trash fish? In Texas on the gulf coast (where im from) its the norm to keep them and eat them... does anyone here keep them for the deep fryer? I almost did, but remembered people not to high on them...
  8. Thanks! for the quick response and willingness to share some info! were going to get back out to Lake Olathe today... we went out yesterday and had a pretty good day.. all on a Texas rigged worm. going to have to battle the wind again, but most of the time the wind gave us the perfect drift along the shore... lost a good sized one that wrapped up in the prop and never surfaced... lesson learned
  9. Going to give either Melvern or Perry a shot... some of you may know that I moved here from Texas (strictly saltwater fisherman) and went out bought a boat and have spent the last year fishing Lake Olathe and Hillsdale really trying to get used to the style of fishing (which is way different). Anyhow, I think Im ready to make the drive to other lakes now that I have a better understanding of how to fish for bass... Which lake tends to be a better producer? Perry is half the distance, but im really wanting to get into some LMbass for some catch and release fun... and any tips on where or what you fish would be greatly appreciated.. ive already backlogged all the older posts, so i was hoping for some recent activity. and if you have any crappie insight for either lake that would be greatly appreciated too.. Thanks guys!
  10. Hillsale - went out in search of LMB and had little to no luck... I know that place is hard fishing, but i wanted to give it my best shot to get it done... that didn't happen. switched to crappie hunting and just kind of tied up to some spots i had seen others and did okay. there is one submerged brush pile i scanned that i want to go back to with more than 1 crappie set up and see how many i can catch. Lake Olathe - LMB bite has been good and consistent. Zman chatterbait (white/chart and black/blue) were the 2 colors i used. Went out again this morning and went for crappie.. caught a few with only 1 being good sized. anyone ever crappie fish olathe and have luck? 4 trips in 3 days... i'll probably take tomorrow off... being a school teacher i get the water to myself mon-fri! Eddie
  11. Hey Basser Thanks! What about boating in some of those lakes with flooded timber... ive always operated in open bays and am paranoid im going to mess up the lower unit hitting some type of structure... how is perry lake? I really appreciate your response... well have to wet some lines together sometime since we both live 5 minutes away...
  12. Hey guys... new to the KC area (Olathe) and looking to really get into freshwater fishing. Im from Texas and guided with my uncle along the coast in south Texas in the bays. I purchased a boat In July and have taken it out a few times every week. Ive only taken it to Lake Olathe so that I can get used to it alone before I get on a big water body. Does anyone fish there? Any tips? I recently have found myself throwing soft plastics along the shoreline dropoff and starting to get some hits and a few fish. Any other nearby lakes work putting my boat on?E Eddie
