  1. MLF is my favorite bass fishing tournament that I enjoy watching. Seeing long non-interrupted interviews with the MLF pros is cool. But this is one strange interview. https://youtu.be/yjGocvkXdmA
  2. I watched a video from a pro who talked about famous pictures and nearly every one was black and white. I'm a fan of black and white movies and TV shows and I've heard more detail can be seen in black and white, but I never realized how powerful photography can be in black and white. The black and white shadows and how it all interplay's is amazing.
  3. Where do you learn about color correcting photos? I've looked online and have found some sites but I find their explanations all lacking. I do like to learn technical things and I like challenges. But I've looked and looked for the perfect site or book to explain color correcting photos for beginners and have been disappointed.
  4. lol. I know it's not your rules. I don't have a big problem with their rules, I'm not going and have no plans on going. Still, when I see things about simple fans of the hobby being escorted out and then turn around and make hundreds of videos pushing their next great fishing product at those exact fans, I don't like it. Still, if I had the chance to sneak in I would and head directly to the Shimano booth!
  5. If it's all about business that has me thinking now - why should I then watch all their videos they will put on Youtube pushing the new stuff on the buyers with a big smile? My money is good enough to take but I'm not good enough to be let in and gawk around? Double standard jerks.
  6. So I think I was right - fishing is done buy July 1st! The strip pits I go fishing at are swarmed with bugs and gnats and mosquitoes. And this rain, it never stops.
  7. Yeah, I'm sort of a Canon guy (don't know why) but I keep reading and seeing videos that Nikon has always been a little better than Canon.
  8. I really enjoy shooting video with my HD camcorders and action cams. But now I'm wanting to push the limits on video and photography and now I'm considering buying a DSLR so I can shoot nicer video and try to shoot great photos. I'm looking at a Canon 70d. This would be my first nice DSLR. So I'm wondering, are any of you into photography and do you use DSLR cameras? If so what do you use? Do you like the equipment you have? I've noticed many lenses are expensive. I thought my Shimano reels were expensive at $220.00, but I see lots of lenses from $300 to $4,000.00! Yikes! So, anybody out there into serious photography? Also, do you do much post work on your pictures on a PC? That's the one thing I don't get - why buy a nice camera if you have to do additional work on the picture on a computer? That seems illogical to me. Should't an expensive camera and lens produce great pictures right when you take them and not require to you to buy expensive software to touch it up later?
  9. My favorite way to fish a stick bait like a five inch Yum-Dinger is to use a 3/0 wide gap hook and eight pound Sufix mono line. I Texas rig it and skin hook the hook point. When a bass bites down I assume that Yum-Dinger easily moved down out of the way of the hook point, the bass pulls and I pull on the line and the hook is set! I almost see it like a switch-blade knife. You flip a switch and blade comes out. Bass bites down on stick bait and it easily moves out of the way exposing hook point. Oh, and I almost always crush the barb down. Fishing is lot easier and more enjoyable with barbs crushed down. Plus getting a hook out of a throat is a lot easier too.
  10. The Senko = Julius Caesar. Yum-Dinger = Augustus Caesar (Greatest emperor ever).
  11. I just saw on my facebook page from Wilderness Systems a video of the ATAK with an electric power device that sits down between your legs and a foot peddle device. Wow. I don't know, do I want a new $1,000 Dell PC or do I want to spend $2,000+ on that ATAK with an electric motor? I could buzz all around a big lake with that ATAK and motor!
  12. If Shimano has any new nice spinning reels I will definitely be interested.
  13. The last three or so weeks we have been getting lots of rain here in Indiana and I'm sure most other places in the country. The last week Iv'e noticed the ponds I fish at have changed. The bite seems to have slowed way down and the bugs have finally come out to bite. One of my relatives said he heard once that real fishing is done by July 1st, after July (or summer really starts to kick in), the good fishing is over. I also noticed one of the main cable TV fishing channels, The Outdoor Network, is replacing most of their Saturday fishing shows with hunting shows. Also, aren't most of the main tournaments now over till late summer? FLW is over, right? This has me wondering, is the good fishing over till late summer/early fall? Has night fishing kicked in? Or is good bass fishing over till spring 2016?
  14. The guy with the best smile while giving a sales pitch on those Icast videos is Edwin Evers. I assume he will be there giving a big smile and explaining how this and that lure are so great. He's one guy I would enjoy talking to, at least from his sales videos from Icast.
  15. When I got into bass fishing a few years ago one of the lines I picked up was P-Line Floroclear 8 pound for my spinning reel. I did a lot of Texas rigging (all I knew how to do) and caught a lot of bass, mostly one pound or 1 and 1/2. Anyway, the one thing I did not like was when, as a newbie, I would grab the line right at the knot/hook when pulling up a bass out of the water, then the line/knot would snap. I lost four or five bass that summer because of that and me. I gave up on that line and have never used it since. So recently I got out that same spool of line and did some tests with it. I tied it to a hook and pulled until it snapped and read the scale. Using a uni-knot that 8 pound line broke around 5 pounds. Improved clinch knot broke around 5. Palomar knot broke almost right at 8 pounds. The thing is, it was rather easy to break that line. When I try that with 8 pound Sufix Elite mono, that 8 pound line is very hard to break and you have to pull really hard. So, does anybody use P-Line Floroclear on your spinning reels and if so what kind of results have you had and what knot do you use with it? Also, is P-Line CX stronger than Florclear? The local Gander Mountain carries Floroclear but not CX. What is the advantage of Floroclear over CX or CX over Floroclear?
  16. I used Texas rigged Yum-Dingers and Berkley seven inch power worms. Also I use split-shot worms like Robo-Worms and Zoom Trick Worms and get lots of bites.
  17. LiveTarget will come out with more stupid see through lures. This time, instead of putting minnows/shad inside their see through crankbaits, they will put little models of Marilyn Monroe, Farrah Fawcett and Angelina Jolie in their crankbaits, then have Dave Mercer go to a private pond to shoot an episode of his show featuring those lures and him catching big bass and thinking they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Livingston Lures will come out with a crankbait that plays Elvis songs and Beatles songs then shoot a commercial with Randy Howell and have him say he wouldn't have won a tournament without his Elvis and Beatles crankbait.
  18. Could it be his style of fishing is not productive any more because the environment and waters have been changing? Or maybe the other competitors have adopted KVDs style and tricks and now he can't beat them because of that?
  19. I just weighed one my watermelon seed five inch Yum-dinger. It came in at 0.35 ounces. But then I weighed a junbug five inch Yum-dinger and it came it at 0.30 ounces.
  20. Their 7 foot medium powers are rated 1/4 to 5/8. Are you guys saying you would not use 5/8 lures on them or is it OK to use 5/8 lures on them?
  21. I read some where that most fisherman don't own a boat. I bank fish and kayak/canoe fish. I think catching a bass while bank fishing, particularly a big lake bank, is worth more than catching a bass from a big bass boat in that same lake. As for the big bass boats - I went to the Indianapolis Boat and Travel show a few years ago. The whole crowd was in the fishing tackle arena. The building with all the bass boats and pontoon boats had no crowds at all. I did look at the boats but I can understand why not too many people were looking - they were all fifty thousand, forty thousand and thirty thousand dollars. I think all the bass fishing shows on TV are heavily sponsored by the bass boat companies.
  22. I have Gopro 4 Silver. But I have to admit I don't take it with me when I go kayak fishing. The last thing I want is to lose a $400 little camera like the GoPro. I also dont' like the fact I always have to pay attention to the waterproof case and make sure it's closed. Plus, with the water proof case on the GoPro, you will not get any sound. I also have a Garmin Virb basic. That thing is a fun camera. The video quality is not as good as my GoPro 4, but it's water resistant out of its water proof case and with the water proof case it's completely water proof. My Garmin Virb has a huge battery compared to the Gopro. I guess I have to say that Virb is my go to camera for outdoor filming. Garmin has discontinued the basic Virb. I'm not sure about the Virb Elite. They are just coming out with the new Virb XE and X that look more like the Gopros, but these new virbs will not need a water proof case at all. I bought my Virb basic back in January for $100.00 with free shipping. I think the price has gone up a little though.
  23. What if I get a Dobyns Fury for light Texas rods? I've been reading more and more good things about that rod. I noticed all of their casting Fury rods are medium heavy or heavy. Would a Fury Medium Heavy Fast 7 foot cast OK with 1/16, 1/8, and 3/16 bullet weights? Also, what Shimano rods would be good too for light Texas rigs?
