  1. This is the game I played this winter. https://www.fishao.com/?ref=CodyRapala&affId=423. It's called fishao. It isn't bass fishing but I like it.
  2. Please post back here after you try and tell us how you did!
  3. My biggest bass I have caught on a frog is only 2 3/4 lbs but i haven't had any good frog gear until recently. I caught it on a KVD Sexy Frog walking the dog through scattered pads near a dock. So what is the biggest bass you caught on a frog? What frog was it? What type of cover? Any pics?
  4. I was wondering what lb test line to get for frog fishing? I have a Diawa Tatula 7.3:1 reel and am planning on getting a veritas 7'3 medium/heavy fast action rod for the reel. I will be using powerpro braid. I fish a variety of different types of cover. I mostly fish small pads but sometime I fish open water or bigger pads. Thanks for any help.
  5. I decided to look for any suggestions on Google and found this video. I think I will try this and thought I would share it in case anyone else wanted to try it.
  6. I was wondering how most people get video of themselves fishing without someone videoing them? I know a lot of people use hat cameras. Is there a reasonably cheap way to get good video of your fishing while fishing from the bank or a canoe? I do most of my fishing out of a canoe. I have a couple of good waterproof cameras. One is small and doesn't zoom very much. The other one is a camcorder. Do you know if there is a way to mount a camera that I already have to a hat? Thanks for any help.
  7. What are your favorite knots for connecting to lines. Do you use the same knot for adding a leader to braided line as you use for tying two mono lines or two braided lines? I want to add more braided line to a rod that already has braid. What knot would you use?
  8. I am looking for a rod to fish frogs. I am planning on using the Diawa Tatula for a reel. The rod needs to be under 100 dollars and I would like to find one for 80 dollars or less. Any suggestions? What gear ratio reel should I get? Thanks for any help.
  9. I think I will probably want to go stronger than 10 lb because the lakes I fish have fairly thick weedbeds. I often have to pull the fish out of weeds.
  10. I should have mentioned that this rod isn't just for jerkbaits. I am also planning on using it for a wide variety of lures mainly jerkbaits and topwaters.
  11. bought a 6'6 medium baitcasting rod for fishing a jerkbait. It says it is medium but it feels like it is stiffer than that. What type of line should I get? What lb test? Thanks for any help.
  12. I found one cheap pack of Gander Mt. frogs on Ebay awhile ago. I caught lots of fish with them and liked them a lot. I haven't tried any other frogs yet though so I don't have much to compare them too.
  13. I am also looking at getting a rod for fishing lots of different lures. I was wondering if it is hard to jerk a jerkbait or popper with a 7 ft rod?
  14. The hooks are red 5/0 worm hooks.

I found some Gamakatsu hooks for fairly cheep. They are red colored. I haven't used red hooks before. What are the advantages/disadvantages of red hooks? Thanks for any help.
  16. I am planning on getting the spro BBZ1 in perch color. I think I will get a slow sinking bait. How well will these work with wire leaders? Will they still catch bass? I don't want to get cut off by pike. Dose it help to have a black wire leader? Thanks!
  17. I was thinking about trying out swimbaits sometime. What are some of the best swimbaits? I have looked at the Savage Gear 3D Real Trout, BPS Z9r and Z9 perch. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money but would like to get 1-2 swimbaits. Most of the lakes that I fish have pike in them so whatever I get has to be able to stand up to pike. Also the lake I usually fish has lots of weeds so I might not be able to fish real deep. I have never caught a largemouth over 4 lbs and thought the maybe a swimbait would help me catch bigger fish. Thanks for any help!
  18. Thanks for the help! I will fish my buzzbait on braided line today. I wanted to fish it on that rod but I had heard once that it isn't good to use braid with a buzzbait because it doesn't stretch. What about fishing with a topwater lures like a popper? What line would you use for poppers?
  19. I was trying to decided if I could fish a buzzbait on my favorite rod because it has braided line on it. Would you fish a buzzbait with braided line? What about Jerkbaits? What are the lures that you wouldn't fish on braided line because braided line doesn't stretch? Thanks for any help.
  20. I was wondering how much it matters if you use different line diameter line for backing or for a leader. I have a spinning rod that I would like to put 30# Powerpro braid on. I currently have 10# mono on that rod. Could I use that as backing? Also if I want to add a florocarbon or mono leader does it matter what the line diameter and pound test is? What knot would you use to connect the lines together? Thanks for any help!!
  21. Try a wacky rigged worm. I usually use Yum Dingers. The wacky rig has definitely been my most way to catch bass. Once I saw a video or article somewhere that says you should fish them fast. I tried it and it works pretty well. Just keep twitching it with an occasional pause.
  22. It was!! I had a 5 and 1/2 foot zebco slingshot combo. 6 lb test line.
  23. I wasn't trying to catch big fish at the time. I was fishing for panfish. The bass broke one of the points off the back hook.
  24. I was wondering what lure/depth/cover you were fishing when you caught your PB largemouth. I have been able to catch lots of fish from 1-2 lbs but I have only a few over 2 lbs. My PB was a 2.5 pound largemouth on a Rebel Crickhopper near shallow water reeds. These are my favorite techniques. Wacky Worms under boat docks, frogs in lily pads and other shallow water cover and topwaters (mainly poppers) over shallow water weeds. The lakes that I usually fish don't have many logs in shallow water. I have hardly fished for bass in water that is deeper than 6-10 feet. Thanks for any help.
