Just spooled up a new Curado I hg with 30lb PP super slick. Put it on the same rod as Curado e series and used the same casting weight for comparison. The E had 65 lb regular PP. Two brakes on on each. Curado I dialed down to 1 on external brake. The e is 10 or so yards longer consistently than the I. I bought the I used off of the flea market here. The guy I bought it from said he had just serviced the bearings. Besides re cleaning the bearings, any suggestions? I thought the I would be at least as long if not longer than the E??? Anyone else have experience with both that you can share? Very disappointed right now in the I. I've got a 6:3 I to spool tomorrow with fluoro. Hopefully it's not the same issue. Dan

For guys that have both rods, what do you use them for? For jerkbaits, what's the smallest the 705 can fish and the largest the 704 can fish? Same question for top water and cranks. I am trying to decide between the two for pointers, 110's, pointer xd, and 110 magnum jerks. An occasional pointer 78 and staysee 90. 3/8 to 1/2 poppers and sammys. Also potential for 1/4 to 3/4 traps. Am I asking too much out of one of these rods? I m a co angler so trying to minimize rods I need to carry. This rod will be used primarily on Lake St Clair and Erie.

Which did you end up getting and what are your thoughts? I am debating the same two rods. Is skipping significantly harder with the 784 than the 744?

Monsterquest tourney on st clair today was won with a 5 fish limit of just over 28lbs of smallmouth. 4th place was 24lbs 12 oz. Awesome fishery.

Lake st clair, bay de noc, Great Lakes, st Lawrence seaway, etc etc are all won with smallmouth bags not largemouth. Northern tourneys are generally smallmouth tourneys.

Thanks for the confirmation. I am keeping my eye out for a 2006 or newer ranger 619. Also looking at triton. Going to try to fish as many as possible this year in the michigan bfl's to get a feel for how various boats handle on st clair and Erie.

Looking for a boat that's a good compromise for fishing st clair or Erie and inland bass lakes. Also would want to hit the spring walleye run on the D. 50 percent big water 50 percent inland lakes. What are your recommendations. Would like to spend 25k plus or minus fully loaded with electronics.

Sorry typo It's the avs66mf. Question still stands - is the xf action that much better for skipping then the fast action?

So my wife got me the avs68mf for Christmas and I am considering taking it back for an xf. Is there that much difference in skipping ability between the fast and extra fast tips on the st croix avids?

Looking for spinning rod recommendations for skipping senkos and other light plastics. I like the st croix and dobyns rods so if you have recommendations on either, please fire away. Also wondering why you recommend the rod you recommend. What else have you tried and why is one better than the other? Not interested in casting rods. Thanks
