Ma Fishing
Is it just me or is fishing still really slow here? The water temp. seems unusually cold for this time of year.

Shakey Heads And Light Bullet Weights
Well I was in a tackle shop today, mostly on a whim, and picked up some stuff. 2 things I got were a pack of Shakey heads and some worm weights. Now I got them in pretty light sizes; the Shakey heads in 1/8oz the weights in 1/16oz. Does anyone have any experience fishing these light a weights? The main reason I got the was to encourage bites on the fall but I'd really appreciate your guys' thoughts, feelings, whatever, in using these things.

Bare Hill Pond
Is anybody familiar with Bare Hill Pond in Harvard, MA? If so, what are some good spots on the pond to catch some decent bass and what are some ideal lure choices /colors?

Rod And Reel Pairing Advice
Any good suggestions for a reel? I just went through all the spinning reels on the BPS website and in the size that I need the President comes closest (if I get the 6930, which I'm still not sure is the correct size) to 22 IPT.

Rod And Reel Pairing Advice
Well, right now I'm looking at a Pflueger President. It doesn't break the bank and it looks like everybody loves it. Also it has the gear ratio im looking for and will hold a mile of braid. I wanted this set-up to be my crankin set up. The rods got the moderate action a cranking rod should have and a lure weight requirement at 1/4-5/8 and that's right there where i want it (im not throwing humongous crankbaits). I'd also be doing some very light saltwater with it as well and ive heard a softer action is better for live bait. I think the President would make a decent match cause its got that low gear ratio people like for cranking and a graphite body will resist corrosion when by saltwater. But I'm grappling with size, between the 6930x and 6935x. The 35 outweighs the 30 by 1.6 oz. Both will hold endless amounts of braid in a variety of sizes, but if i wanted to switch to mono. it'd be trickier. The 6930x says it'll hold 120 yards of .25mm line and since I feel comfortable using 10lb line its hard to find a mono that is even equal to that diameter. The 6935x will hold 140 yards of .28mm mono. and that opens things up but im hesitant about the larger size. Which reel would you pick? Your guys' advice on this is truly invaluable!

Rod And Reel Pairing Advice
Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with the St. Croix Tidemaster Inshore 6'6" medium power, moderate action spinning rod (TIS66MM). If you are, what reel do you have paired with it? Any sort of insight on a reel pairing with this rod would be greatly appreciated. As a side note I feel obligated to say, as this question usually comes with these types of posts, I don't care about price range, for now at least, cause these are just ideas. Thanks!

Lost Fish; Equipment Or Technique To Blame?

Nashua River-Mass.
What kind of fish are you catching in there?

Nashua River-Mass.
Posted in General and was suggested to move it to local. Hey guys, new to the forum here. I just have a quick question. How do you go about fishing a new body of water you have never fished before? I'm talking the Nashua, not very wide, maybe 30 feet across in widest area where I am but all in all generally narrow. It's very slow moving water that in my few of experiences of being on it has the clarity of a cup of coffee. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Lost Fish; Equipment Or Technique To Blame?
The first was closer in but he also hit it relatively close to where I was on shore; probably followed it for a while. I felt what was his full weight, let him have a little panic attack, and then gave a good jerk, then pausing to slightly tighten my drag and after this pause...gone. Second one was farther off and gave a shake so he mightn't have had the hook stuck too deep in him.

Lost Fish; Equipment Or Technique To Blame?
I'm using a 1/0 Lazer Sharp worm hook. The plastic is skin hooked but usually pops out and lays very flush to the worm.

Lost Fish; Equipment Or Technique To Blame?
Not sure if this is really the correct forum to be posting in (still new here) but it may be related to rod and line. Well long story short I hooked up to 3 bass in the span of an hour and landed 1. Little bit of a bummer. My question is would it be a case of "the wrong stuff for the job" or a technique oriented issue? So I know I'm gonna get a lotta skepticism at the least for telling what my rod is but it's a St. Croix Light power fast action using some 10lb PowerPro. It's just fun to use lighter stuff. I'm not using a super aggressive hookset cause they're thumping it pretty hard after I tease them for a while with a small Texas rig (6" curly tail worm, 3/16 oz weight) and I'm using braid. Is this a mistake or is my set-up just too light? Or is it something else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Short Striking
That makes a lot sense. They were swarming today.

Short Striking
I was fishing today, rigged up with an unweighted senko. I was casting out and on the drop my rod tip would twitch maybe once or twice or three times and then just stop. Are the fish just biting the tail of the worm or are they just bumping it? What are they doing to it?

Unfamiliar Waters
If anyone is actually familiar with the river it's the Nashua River. It branches of the Merrimack and flows north. I'd be kayak fishing as its steep banks prevent wading plus it is surrounded by relatively dense forest on both sides of my stretch. It's hard to gauge other peoples fishing on the river as it is rather large and most people fish the ponds/lakes it flows into. They do stock those areas with trout. Would those trout venture through the river system or stay put? Thanks for your guys' input on my topic!
