Tatula Hd For Swimbaits?
Thanks! I wouldnt mind looking for some used reels as well, its just about all I throw at the moment is the Tatula and I love it. I am slowly changing all of my reels over to them. So when I saw the HD I got really excited thinking it may work for swimbaits and I can stick to the model that I like so much.

Tatula Hd For Swimbaits?
Hey guys what are your thoughts on the Tatula HD for swimbaits? I know it has a larger line capacity, but it is not quite as large as reels like the Lexa 300 or Curado that a lot of people like for swimbaits. Daiwa's website says that it can hold 14/165 or 20/100. Would that be large enough? I am using an older reel right now for swimbaits and would like to get something better pretty soon. Thanks!

Floating Swimbaits In The Middle Of The Day?

Floating Swimbaits In The Middle Of The Day?
Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I have just always thought it was something you could only throw at certain times. That leads me to a second question then. What is the main difference between a slow sinker fished on top waking it, compared to a floater? Seems like if you tied on a slow sinker it would be more versatile because it can do top or under, but a floater would only be on top water. I am very new to swimbaits though so I feel like there must be something I am missing that sets the two apart. thanks again!

Floating Swimbaits In The Middle Of The Day?
Hey guys so I have been watching a lot of swimbait videos recently to learn about them. Anyways I have noticed a lot of videos have people waking a swimbait on topwater in the middle of the day. It is even bright sunny days a lot of the time. Traditionally I have always heard topwater is good if its overcast, or during the morning and late afternoon/evening. Anyways my question is does this still apply to swimbaits or will you fish them throughout the day on topwater regardless of the conditions?

Favorite Squarebill?
I picked up a Sebile Bull Crank the other day and I really like it a lot. I also have started throwing the Xcalibur XCS100 and it is a great crank as well. If I could afford to throw LC a lot then I would go with the RTO 1.5. Rick Clunn's cranks with Luck-E-Strike is also a great crank.

Do You Use Stock Hooks With The Bbz-1?
Hey guys I have a BBZ-1 6inch slow sinker on its way to me in the mail. I was wondering if the stock hooks are good, or should I switch them out? I saw reviews on TW saying both ways. Thanks!

What Fishing Line For Bbz-1?
Awesome thanks! Is there a specific mono you would recommend? I found some really old post where everyone was talking about P-Line CXX but I wasnt sure if there was something else now days that would be a better buy. Also I forgot to mention I am getting the slow sink model, Im not sure if that matters or not though.

What Fishing Line For Bbz-1?
Hey guys so I am making out an order from TW right now. I have never thrown swimbaits before but I really want to try. I will be getting a Daiwa DX Swimbait rod and a BBZ-1 6in. I found an older shimano bantam corolis reel of my dads that holds quite a bit of line. Im going to use it for now until I can get something else. What size and type of line should I get for it?

Skeet Reese Honeycomb Alabama Rig Rod For Swimbaits?
Hey guys so I found a Skeet Reese Honeycomb Alabama Rig Rod at Dunhams today. I also have a 30% coupon right now so I could get the rod really cheap. I am wondering how it would be for throwing a BBZ-1 or the BBZ-1 Rat when it comes out? The rod is 7'5 Hvy and is rated for 1-3 1/2 oz lures and 15-40lb line. Would this make for an ok rod for this?

Couple Different Questions About Swimbaits
Hey guys so I thought of a few more questions regarding swimbaits I wanted to post up on here. 1. Do you feel like you have to be on a "big fish lake" to throw swimbaits that are 6in or larger? I want to start trying a 6in BBZ-1. The lake that I fish the most has some larger bass in it, but sadly it has been managed pretty poorly. Right now a 3-4lb bass is considered a good size. Now I have heard even this year of some 6-7lb bass being caught, but it is very few and far in between. An average day out there is 15-20 bass with most of them anywhere from 10-16 inches. I know the bait is pretty big, but do you think with average bass that size I would still be ok to throw it? 2. Do you fish a swimbait year round? 3. I watched some of Bill Siemantel (sp?) videos online and watched how he fishes them from the shallows of a point uphill or right up against walls, but couldnt you also just beat the bank with them if it is in a productive area? Thanks guys!

Thinking About Getting Into Swimbaits (Reels)
Thanks for the advice. I will have to look at it. I actually came across the Daiwa Millionaire-S. It is $65. The rod and reel together would make for a pretty cheap set-up. I am not sure yet though. I like the Lexa, it is just quite a bit more.

Water Clarity And Swimbaits
Awesome thank you! That is what I expected, I just wanted to hear it from someone else haha. Thanks again!

Thinking About Getting Into Swimbaits (Reels)
Thanks for the idea. I honestly have never thrown anything like these before, so I am nervous about putting a lot of money into the setup incase I end up not liking it. I am pretty sure that I will, but I still feel like it would be better to do a budget priced setup at first just incase.

Water Clarity And Swimbaits
Hey guys so I am really wanting to get into throwing swimbaits. However I have started noticing a lot of people that use them seem to be fishing clear water. I live in North Carolina, so a lot of my lakes around here are not extremely clear. The lake I spend the most time on usually varies anywhere from 12-30 inches of visibility. I want to throw a BBZ-1 6in, so I would think that it should be fine, but I just want to be sure before I start getting some money together for the set-up.

Thinking About Getting Into Swimbaits (Reels)
Im actually thinking about the Daiwa Dx Swimbait 8ft Med Hvy unless I stumble across something else that looks good close to that same price. It says its good for 1-6oz, which would work for me because I want to throw a BBZ-1 6in, BBZ-1 Rat, and an A-rig on it.

Thinking About Getting Into Swimbaits (Reels)
Are there older round reels from Abu that are in the 6:1 gear ratio? I have read a lot of people online throwing them around that ratio, but so far the round reels I have found are in the 5:1 range. Is that ok for a swimbait?

Thinking About Getting Into Swimbaits (Reels)
Hey guys so I am wanting to start throwing some swimbaits. I will probably start with the 6in BBZ-1. I see all these different reels that say they are made for heavy baits like this. How important is this? I love my tatulas, could I use them with one of these baits?

Can You Use The Alberto Knot And Micro Guides?
I would be really careful with that. I just took that exact same rod back to Bass Pro a few weeks ago because one of the guide inserts fell out when I was using the alberto knot. I had 20lb braid and 14lb leader.

What Hooks Should I Get?
Thanks for the suggestions guys, what size should I get?

What Hooks Should I Get?
So I recently picked up some new squarebills, and I was concerned about the hooks they come with. I got: Sebile Bull Crank Sebile Square Bill Sunfish Rick Clunn Classic's Series 3 Vicious VC 2.1 Xcalibur xcs 100 Are there any of these that come with hooks that are good enough that do not need upgrading? For the ones that you would switch out, what would you switch them to? I do not generally swap hooks, but I thought with burning these the way that I have been fishing square bills recently I wanted a hook that would really hold onto the fish.
